ADRL CHAMPIONSHIP PREDICTIONS

3-13-08adrlpredictions.jpg Predicting an ADRL Champion can be a complex task when compared to analyzing an NHRA or IHRA champion.

Once a team qualifies for the top eight by collecting points all year long, the championship is determined by a shootout on a Friday night in Texas. With that said, we will attempt to predict the top eight in each class however, it all depends on who brings the biggest gun to the final showdown in Ennis, TX in October.

Josh Hernandez should fight to capture the Belt this year. Primarily as a result (and this will be true for all classes) of the expanded travel schedule, Hernandez will represent the few teams who attend the majority of the events. While Jason Scruggs has found some of the consistency that he did not have in previous years, he probably will not be able to meet the demands of the schedule in 2008 to defend his Belt.

The Battle for the Belt only requires you to be in the top eight in points to have a shot at the title. The fact that teams will not make every event may not be that much of a factor in deciding the champion. The biggest factor will be top performance in the events attended by each team.

Shannon Jenkins has new cars and a new attitude for the ADRL this year. With Mike Castellana concentrating on the IHRA points chase, Jenkins will be able to devote his full attention to capturing the Belt. Harold Martin, with new backing for the year will make a run for the Belt also. Dennis Radford could be a really big factor if he sticks to the ADRL tour instead of the NHRA. But again, it all depends on who brings the biggest NOS cartridge for their shootout gun.

Mike Hill will be looking to keep Steve Gorman from repeating in 2008. While David Janes is our selection for garnering the most season points, he will really be in a fight to turn the season points in a Belt championship

Bill Vose wants to repeat for 2008 and and has the potential. Anyone want to tell any of the riders that we are not picking them for the 2008 title? I know we are not going to tell them face to face. Any of them can ride off with the Belt across the handlebars.
