Musi entered the event as the No. 10 seed but has performed like a top qualifier in every round leading up to the finals. The veteran doorslammer driver, who made a name in Pro Stock and later Pro Street, still holds the highest vote total for any match in winning the first round.

To reach the finals, Force has defeated Don Gillespie, Shirley Muldowney and Gary Scelzi.

Musi has been dominant in each of his victories in defeating Whit Bazemore, Chris Kaufmann and Don Garlits.
