According to an article published in the San Antonio Express-News Dec. 24, Gutierrez was shot multiple times inside his home on his company’s property in the 2200 block of FM 3009, police said. Gutierrez owned Bexar Waste.
Detectives believe he may have been shot closer to 10 a.m. but still had neither a motive nor enough information to pin down a suspect as of Saturday afternoon.
Gutierrez’s body was found at about 10:50 a.m. in his home by a family member who went to check on him when he did not show up for work, authorities said in the article.
The article also stated Gutierrez’s 2013 white Ford Expedition was missing, believed to be stolen by the shooter. It has Texas plates reading BRP-3217. Anyone with information is asked to call Guadalupe County Crime Stoppers at 877-403-TIPS. A $5,000 reward is being offered for any information leading to an arrest.
Gutierrez became the CEO of Gutierrez Disposal at the age of 35 after the previous owner, his father, died in 1979.
Gutierrez grew the company into Bexar Waste, which still provides recycling, salvage and construction waste removal services in area cities. In April, the Gutierrez Xeriscape park was re-dedicated to Gutierrez’s family for their service, according to the city’s website.
In drag racing, when Gutierrez decided to build a Nostalgia Funny Car, the choice was obvious.
