DILLON SHOCKS THEM WITH COKE 600 VICTORY

In a captivating Coca-Cola 600 that stretched into Monday morning, Austin Dillon stretched his fuel mileage just enough to capture his first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series victory in unforgettable fashion at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Dillon saved enough fuel to go the distance to score the first win for Richard Childress Racing’s iconic No. 3 Chevrolet since Dale Earnhardt in October of 2000.

“It hasn’t sunk in, truthfully. … I am just so proud of all the effort that all these guys put in," Dillon said. "I have the best pit crew and my grandfather has done everything he could to get the best he could get. I feel like we are the small team out there trying to get all we can get. And tonight we got it. The race, when it came down to it, we had everything we needed. It just feels amazing.”

BLANEY WINS NASCAR CHARLOTTE XFINITY EVENT

A late restart was all Ryan Blaney needed to clear Kevin Harvick and speed to victory in an action-packed Hisense 4K TV 300 on Saturday at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Blaney led a race-high 107 of 200 laps and joined his father, Dave – who won in 2006 – as the first father-son duo to win NASCAR XFINITY Series races at Charlotte, and the sixth combination to win XFINITY Series races.

MONTE DUTTON: THE ALL-STAR BETS ARE OFF

Oh, bother, Winnie the Pooh might say. What to do with the All-Star Race? What indeed?

Each year brings with it talk of relocating the Great Race That Has Lost Its Way. How come Charlotte gets three race weekends? It used to be because it could draw a crowd two weeks in a row. This isn’t true anymore. Nor is it true that most tracks can draw a crowd with a weekend alone, at least not as in the days of yore.

Yore featured slam-bang duels between Earnhardt and Elliott, Wallace and Waltrip, Davey and Kyle, etc.

KYLE BUSCH WINS NASCAR ALL-STAR EVENT

It took Kyle Busch 12 years to win the Monster Energy All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway, but one move on Brad Keselowski in Saturday's final segment did the job.

Busch passed Brad Keselowski and Segment 3 winner Jimmie Johnson on the Segment 4 restart and pulled away to become the 23rd driver to win an All-Star Race. Busch prevailed over polesitter Kyle Larson – who dominated the first two segments, but restarted fourth for Segment 4 after Keselowski did not pit. Busch’s victory, coupled with his win in Friday’s N.C. Education Lottery 200, made it a weekend sweep.
