NHRA officials canceled the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals on Sunday after persistent rain and unsafe track conditions made competition impossible at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip. The decision closed the season without a single professional pass completed during the event.
Series officials said the NHRA Safety Safari worked throughout the weekend, but the track surface never reached a safe state. After extended consultation with safety personnel, NHRA determined the Finals could not proceed.
With the cancellation, remaining 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series champions were finalized by current points standings. Austin Prock secured his second straight Funny Car title, while Dallas Glenn and Richard Gadson claimed their first championships in Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle, respectively.
Doug Kalitta clinched his second career Top Fuel championship Saturday when rain wiped out qualifying. It marked the only professional category to be settled before Sunday’s cancellation.
NHRA President Glen Cromwell said safety took priority in determining the final outcome of the race. “While we explored every possible option to complete the event this weekend, the safety of our competitors, teams and fans remains the highest priority, which led to this difficult decision to cancel the event,” Cromwell said.
He also recognized fans and teams who endured the weather in hopes of salvaging part of the show. “We thank the incredible NHRA community – and especially the fans for braving the elements – for their unwavering support throughout this challenging weekend and during an unforgettable 2025 season,” Cromwell said.
NHRA thanked track staff, safety crews, emergency personnel, and its partners for continued efforts despite the conditions. The cancellation sealed one of the most unusual season endings in series history, with champions crowned by rankings rather than final-round racing.
