THE BEAUTY OF THE NHRA U.S. NATIONALS

There are many drag races in the world, but when it's all said and done, there's only one Indy, short for the NHRA U.S. Nationals. Few have been able to capture the beauty and prestige of the traditional pilgrimage to Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis until now.

Extremely talented videographer Corey Michalek has produced a video from the 2019 event, which will inspire and evoke feelings of excitement as you watch the painstakingly edited film showcasing the beauty of the world's most prestigious drag race for six decades.

CPTV ENCORE: REMEMBERING FORCE & HAGAN VS. THE INTERNET

force haganGo behind the scenes with NHRA Funny Car champion Matt Hagan and his iconic adversary John Force as they describe an offseason where they caught hell on the Internet. Hagan was accused of being the beneficiary of dives. Force was accused of gaining favoritism from NHRA. In a court of law, neither would likely be found guilty as charged. So we are taking it to the one place for you to help us decide, the Race Fan's Court.

CLASSIC VIDEO: 1984 IHRA SPRING NATIONALS VIDEO

Thunder Valley Dragway, the crown jewel of IHRA facilities, annually hosted the richest professional drag race with unheard paydays in the Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock divisions. Consider this ... in 1980, Larry Carrier paid a whopping $20,000 to win in both Top Fuel and Funny Car divisions. Pro Stock took home an impressive $10,000.

The 1984 season marked a change for the IHRA as Top Fuel was dropped from the program leaving the fuel Funny Car division as the lone nitro division.

This rare video features coverage of the Pro Funny Car division as well as the mountain-motored Pro Stocks.

You'll see the stars of the era ... Billy Meyer, Mark Oswald, Denny Savage, Dale Pulde, Lee Shepherd, Roy Hill and more. This video also features sportsman categories.

If you look really closely during the broadcast, you'll see John Force and the king of the '55 Chevrolets Charles Carpenter.

HAPPY NEW YEAR - THE STEVIE "FAST" JACKSON CALL-OUT LIST

NHRA Pro Modified champion Stevie "Fast" Jackson has not forgotten his drudge racing roots. To start off the season, he's calling out a bunch of folks.

Jackson believes many of the competitors are hiding behind excuses. No one is safe, especially if they are in doorslammer racing.

Even the 16-time champion John Force isn't safe.

WHEN YOU'RE SO POPULAR SANTA WANTS YOUR AUTOGRAPH

Cameron McMillen reminds us of all of the innocence of a child. The six-year-old budding drag racer has been a hit with the drag racing world, so much so his famous Top Fuel driving, and Indianapolis-winning dad Terry McMillen is an afterthought.

On Saturday afternoon, at the NHRA Auto Club Finals, Cameron was summoned to the ropes to meet a fan. Mind you this was no ordinary fan. This was the white-bearded man, who's best known for his world-traveling sleigh. There was no traditional heavy suit; just a red hot rodder's t-shirt, with a pair of red jeans and a ball cap out at the drags for a day of horsepower.

You'll smile when the jolly man meets the driver of his choice and walks away with an autograph. In the end, he might have scored his old man some parts and a few goodies for himself.

CPTV VIDEO - WATCH HOT ROD THE MOVIE

When there's no racing to be had, it's always good to tune into a drag racing flick. In Hot Rod, a drag-racer enters a local championship race. However, he runs up against the town boss, a corrupt sheriff who has already made arrangements to ensure that his own son wins the race.

LEGENDS: THE SERIES - PREVIEW FOR DARRELL RUSSELL EPISODE

It's hard to imagine a career where a winning driver never created animocity amongst his peers. Likewise, in this day and age of sensitivity, it's equally difficult to imagine a drag racer who never had a bad thing to say about anyone else.

Darrell Russell was this man.
