TS STANDOUT O’NEAL INKS DEAL WITH TUB O’ TOWELS, FREE ALL

 

Tub O’ Towels and Free All will join NHRA Top Sportsman Driver and US Army Veteran Don O'Neal through the remainder of the 2018 season, keeping the iconic “Mad Scientist” clean while competing in NHRA Top Sportsman competition at 200 MPH.

"We have been using Tub O’ Towels for a long time and they make it easy to keep the Mad Scientist clean,” said O'Neal. "The Mad Scientist is having a great year and we are lucky to have Tub O’ Towels on board. We are looking forward to finishing the season strong, just like Tub O’ Towels finishes the job strong.”

Professional drivers and performers put on a powerful show for a packed-to-capacity crowd at the 41st Annual Kelly Services Night Under Fire on Aug. 11 at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.

NHRA CHAMPIONSHIP CREW CHIEF GETS HIS PRO MOD FIX

There is very little NHRA world championship tuner Lee Beard hasn’t accomplished or seen in the sport of drag racing.

Beard, however, had a first Saturday when he came to his first Pro Mod race – the Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod event – at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colo., near Denver.

“I heard they were having a race here that paid a lot of money and I thought I would come see what these guys do,” Beard said. “To be honest with you, this is my first time being to a Pro Mod race.”

The majority of CompetitionPlus.com readers who participated in the ARP Question of the Week feel the NHRA should bring in the mountain motors to race alongside the 500-inch engines.

Initially, the voting was one-sided with an overwhelming majority of the readership feeling a mix was best for the class, a last-minute push of the traditionalist narrowed the "for" total to 55-percent of the 4,400-plus votes cast.

CARL STEVENS JR. CLAIMS $100,000 PRIZE AFTER WINNING WORLD SERIES OF PRO MOD

On the strength of one incredible performance after another on Saturday, Carl Stevens Jr. came up victorious at the Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod presented by One Cure and J&A Service at Bandimere Speedway, knocking off Danny Rowe in a thrilling final round to be crowned champion and earn the $100,000 payday.
 
Stevens went a blistering 5.856 at 246.26 mph in his turbocharged ’69 Camaro to best Rowe’s 5.949 at 242.54, claiming the quickest run in the two-year history of the World Series of Pro Mod in the process. It set off a memorable celebration for the North Haledon, N.J., native and his team, soaking in what it meant to win the biggest and richest Pro Mod drag race in the history of the known universe.

STEVIE 'FAST' JACKSON WINS $5,000 DRAG 965/NITROUS OUTLET BURNOUT CONTEST AT WSOPM

After powering through an epic burnout that ended up pulling the chutes, Stevie “Fast” Jackson was named the winner of the Drag 965/Nitrous Outlet burnout contest on Friday at the DRAG ILLUSTRATED World Series of Pro Mod at Bandimere Speedway.
 
The highly entertaining burnout contest took place at the end of the second Summit Racing Equipment Shakedown runs, with Jackson winning the $5,000 prize against a talented field that included Todd Tutterow, Marc Caruso, who was deemed “The People’s Champ” by WSOPM officials, Clint Satterfield and Brandon Pesz. Jackson blasted through his burnout to nearly the 1,000-foot mark in his Bahrain 1 Racing Camaro before the chutes came out, eliciting a wild round of applause from the fans who enjoyed every minute of the contest.

DRIVERS DRAW FIRST-ROUND PAIRINGS AT DRAG ILLUSTRATED WORLD SERIES OF PRO MOD

Defending World Series of Pro Mod event champion Mike Bowman led a list of 26 Pro Mod drivers who randomly drew their first-round pairings Friday night at the second annual Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod benefiting One Cure and presented by J&A Service.
 
Bowman and the rest of the Pro Mod competitors took turns pulling numbered Coors Light cans out of a cooler. The number on the bottom of the can represented their spot on the 26-car ladder.
