By Pro Stock driver Greg Anderson's standards, this hasn’t been the best of seasons.
Yet, despite not having any victories in the first 12 NHRA races in 2018, Anderson, a four-time world champion, arrived at the New England Nationals second in the point standings and now will start from the No. 1 qualifying position.

Leah Pritchett secured the Top Fuel No. 1 qualifier for the second consecutive season at New England Dragway on Saturday afternoon in front of a sellout crowd at the sixth annual NHRA New England Nationals.
Matt Hagan (Funny Car) and Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) are also No. 1 qualifiers in their respective categories at the 13th of 24 events on the 2018 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule.

Matt Hagan has been anything but unpredictable in the last two NHRA national event stops.
After winning at Norwalk, Ohio, June 24, Hagan grabbed the provisional No. 1 qualifying spot Friday night at the New England Nationals in Epping, N.H.

The past couple of seasons qualifying at the New England Nationals in Epping, N.H., has been very good to Leah Pritchett.
A year after capturing the No. 1 qualifying spot with a track record 3.673-second run, Pritchett claimed the provisional No. 1 Friday at the 2018 New England Nationals with a 3.742-second pass at 324.51 mph in her Mopar Top Fuel Dragster for Don Schumacher Racing.

Jeremy Ray is decidedly old-school. From the “Carolina Kingpin” nickname on the side of his orange ’63 Corvette to his “own it, drive it, tune it” approach, Ray is a throwback to the Pro Mod drivers he grew up watching.
He lives close to Pro Mod legend Scotty Cannon, had his Corvette built by Tommy Mauney and wildly respects the approach of veteran standout drivers like Todd Tutterow and Rickie Smith. That old-school demeanor is also why Ray has his sights on competing at the DRAG ILLUSTRATED World Series of Pro Mod, which takes place Aug. 10-11 at Bandimere Speedway.
The South Carolina native has never raced at the Denver-area track, but taking on considerable challenges is what Ray considers one of the hallmarks of old-school Pro Mod racing. Racing on Thunder Mountain qualifies as a considerable challenge, so count Ray invested on trying to tackle it.

When you ride a 225-mph, nitro-burning, Top Fuel Harley-Davidson weird stuff is bound to happen. The oddness typically transpires on the drag strip.
For CatSpot Organic Cat Litter-sponsored rider Rickey House, things got weird on the 2000-mile journey to Epping, New Hampshire for this weekend's NHRA New England Nationals
"The wheel bearing on the race trailer broke on the way up here, and the whole wheel came off and actually passed me as I was slowing down," House said. "Luckily it didn't hit anything or anybody, and I was able to find it and get it back. It chewed the axle and spindle up. I don't know if it lost its oil or what happened, but we'll get it fixed.

The rain has stopped, but due to the rain this morning the Safety Safari is working to rebuild the dragstrip. Apparently water got under the rubber on the top end of the race track, so the Safety Safari is scrapping the rubber up. It will then have to rebuild the drag strip rubber. There is no estimated time when racing will start.
