A drag racing tragedy in Australia has saddened the drag racing community worldwide.
Eight-year-old Junior Dragster racer Anita Board was critically injured in a crash while racing her car Saturday, November 11, at the Perth Motorplex. She later died as a result of those injuries.
"Tragically, the eight-year-old girl involved in a crash at the Kwinana Motorplex yesterday has died as a result of the injuries she sustained," a WA Police police spokeswoman said in a statement prepared for ABC.net.au.

Eddie Krawiec clinched his fourth NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Pro Stock Motorcycle world championship, and first since 2012, by qualifying Saturday at the season ending Auto Club NHRA Finals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.
En route to the world title Krawiec rode to seven victories including the first race of the season for the two-wheeled category at the Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla. and his second Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals win in Indianapolis. In the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Countdown to the Championship, Krawiec cemented his fourth crown with four wins in the first five races and took the points lead when the team left the NHRA Carolina Nationals in Charlotte, N.C.

The 2018 NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series schedule was announced by series officials. The series, in its eleventh season, includes classes for front engine dragsters, altereds and gassers, and is highlighted by the nitro burning Nostalgia Top Fuel Dragsters and Nostalgia Funny Cars.
The season opener moves back to famed Auto Club Famoso Raceway and the 60th Good Vibrations March Meet, March 1-4 in Bakersfield, Calif., followed by the Nostalgia Reunion at Sacramento (Calif.) Raceway in early April. The series then heads north for the first of two stops at Firebird Raceway in Boise, Idaho, the NAPA Auto Parts Ignitor with a second stop at Sacramento Raceway slated for June 9-10, a Friday-Saturday night event.
