ROUND BY ROUND RESULTS FROM 2017 WINTERNATIONALS

Final round-by-round results from the 57th annual Circle K NHRA Winternationals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, the first of 24 events in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series:

PRITCHETT, HAGAN AND LINE WIN SEASON OPENING WINTERNATIONALS

Leah Pritchett, a Redlands, Calif. native, earned the second Top Fuel victory of her career at the 57th annual Circle K NHRA Winternationals on Sunday at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, her home track.

Matt Hagan (Funny Car) and Jason Line (Pro Stock) also had wins in their respective categories at the first event of 24 on the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season.

LINE EARNS 50TH CAREER PRO STOCK NO. 1

The big 5-0.

Recording 50 of anything is a milestone achievement in any profession, but it is especially noteworthy when talking about performance on the race track. So when Jason Line crossed the stripe on Saturday with the quickest Pro Stock pass of the weekend to record the 50th No. 1 of his career, you might imagine he would be elated with the news.

ELATED PRITCHETT LEADS TOP FUEL FIELD INTO ELIMINATIONS AT HOME TRACK

Leah Pritchett can distinctly remember her first award at Pomona.

Just eight-years-old, learning the ropes of the sport she would grow to love behind the wheel of a Junior Dragster, Pritchett vividly recalls receiving a plaque in front of an empty grandstand with just her and her friends there to celebrate the accomplishment.

WAR IS HELL, AND SCHUMACHER AND FORCE ARE BACK AT IT

John Force after making an outstanding run in Saturday's opening qualifying session at the NHRA Winternationals proclaimed of he and Don Schumcher "one of these days we are actually going to be friends, he don't know it, but we are going to be."

Obviously, Schumacher didn't get the memo.

The two exchanged words on the starting line during Saturday's qualifying.

FIELDS SET FOR CIRCLE K NHRA WINTERNATIONALS

Leah Pritchett raced to her second career Top Fuel No. 1 qualifier at her home track Saturday at the 57th annual Circle K Winternationals. Pritchett, a Redlands, Calif. native, took her first pass down a dragstrip at the Auto Club Raceway at Pomona when she was eight-years-old in a Jr. Dragster.

Matt Hagan (Funny Car) and Jason Line (Pro Stock) were the No. 1 qualifiers in their respective categories at the first of 24 races on the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season schedule.

HAGAN PUTS TURBULENT OFFSEASON BEHIND HIM, LEADS FUNNY CAR AT POMONA

Sometimes, the answer to all of life's problems is just to go fast.

Following a turbulent offseason for two-time champion Matt Hagan, one that included the joy of welcoming his third child into the world and the sorrow following the unexpected passing of his brother, Kyle, Hagan was more than ready to get back behind the wheel and use the therapeutic powers of a 10,000 horsepower, fire-breathing Funny Car to calm his nerves.

KALITTA PICKS UP WHERE HE LEFT OFF WITH TOP SPOT AT POMONA

Perhaps no track on the NHRA tour possess more history and more grandeur than Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.

And perhaps no driver has had more recent success at the historical track than Doug Kalitta. With two finals and a win in a pair of visits to the southern California track in 2016, Kalitta was eager to return to the facility to kickoff the 2017 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series.

KALITTA, HAGAN AND ANDERSON LEAD PRO QUALIFYING FRIDAY AT POMONA

Doug Kalitta ran his career best elapsed time to lead Top Fuel qualifying Friday at the 57th annual NHRA Circle K Winternationals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona. Due to weather, only Pro Stock was able to run both rounds of qualifying. Rain began halfway through the Funny Car second session before NHRA officials concluded racing activities.

Matt Hagan (Funny Car) and Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) were also qualifying leaders in their respective categories at the season opening event of the 24-race 2017 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series.
