ANDERSON OVERCOMES FIRST REAL CHALLENGE OF THE SEASON, COLLECTS SIXTH WIN

Almost.

After five months, 12 races and only two different winners in NHRA’s Pro Stock class this season, it appeared that the undefeated streak of KB Racing would finally come to an end during the 19th annual K&N Filters Route 66 NHRA Nationals.

After a long day on Saturday where the WFC competitors witnessed the completion of three separate races, the blue skies and sunshine were a welcome sight to the over 300 race cars which competed today for the final race of the tenth version of this great event.
 
“Both Steve [Stites-co-promoter] and myself are so thankful for the hundreds of racers who chose to attend our event,” said co-promoter Jared Pennington. “Between the support we get from the racers and the many sponsors who have the vision to support this the grassroots of drag racing, it gives us a great feeling for the future of our sport.”

HINES TAKES CHICAGO PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE CROWN

Andrew Hines found his way back to the winner’s circle Sunday and he was thrilled to be there.

Hines clocked a 6.858-second elapsed time at 194.91 mph on his Screamin’ Eagle Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson to defeat Angelle Sampey’s 6.893-second lap at 193.40 mph in the finals at the K&N Filters Route 66 NHRA Nationals.

SCHUMACHER’S TEAMS DELIVER THIRD CONSECUTIVE DOUBLE UP FOR DECORATED TEAM OWNER

There's no place like home and for team owner Don Schumacher, a native Chicagoan, Route 66 Raceway is where he was able to hang his latest double-up.

Thanks to winning efforts from Don Schumacher Racing drivers Antron Brown [Top Fuel] and Jack Beckman [Funny Car], Schumacher earned his third consecutive double-up weekend and 56th overall at the NHRA K&N Filters Route 66 Nationals outside of Chicago.

HAGAN RACES TO TOP SPOT IN FUNNY CAR AT ROUTE 66

With one final qualifying blast, Matt Hagan rocketed to the top of the nitro Funny Car qualifying ladder Saturday evening at the K&N Filters Route 66 NHRA Nationals.

In the Q4 session, Hagan clocked a track-record elapsed time of 3.882-seconds at 331.12 mph in his Don Schumacher Racing Dodge to take the No. 1 qualifying spot at Route 66 Raceway.

WORLD FOOTBRAKE CHALLENGE X – SATURDAY RESULTS

With the postponement of Friday’s $10K race due to rain, fourth round racers were up bright and early with the continuation of eliminations beginning at 8:00 sharp. The weather was dramatically different with a number of red-lights and runs under the dial, but 29 racers handled it well enough to make it to the next round.
 
In between elimination rounds of the $10K Friday race, competitors received a single time run for Saturday’s $20K race. An ambitious day is ahead as three races will need to be completed in addition to the Racer Appreciation Barbeque.

GRAY BREAKS THROUGH TO TAKE NO. 1 SPOT IN PRO STOCK AT CHICAGO

The 2016 NHRA Pro Stock qualifying domination of KB Racing was finally stopped – by Shane Gray.

The veteran driver clocked a 6.578-second elapsed time at 209.46 mph on Friday and it was good enough for the No. 1 qualifying spot Saturday at the K&N Filters Route 66 NHRA Nationals.
