CHAOS SERIES AND TEXAS MOTORPLEX HAVE BIG PLANS IN 2024

The DMP Awnings Nitro Chaos Championship series 2024 season opener has been confirmed. In a significant move, the Texas Motorplex is set to host Nitro Chaos as part of the highly anticipated Funny Car Chaos Classic from April 4 - 8, 2024. This event will be a three-day drag race and a multi-day celebration of the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024. The extravaganza guarantees five days of racing, featuring a car count of at least 75-plus entries.

"I grew up a Motorplex kid," said Chris Graves, CHOS founder. "The Motorplex is where my drag racing addiction was born. It's truly an honor and privilege for me to be able to host a CHAOS event there, and I can't thank the Meyer family enough for their support of what we are doing at CHAOS.

AFTERMARKET DEFEAT DEVICE ENFORCEMENT REMOVED AS EPA PRIORITY

In a recent move, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has excluded "Stopping Aftermarket Defeat Device for Vehicles and Engines" from its final National Enforcement and Compliance Initiative (NECI) for the years 2024 to 2027. This decision sees the agency return enforcement of aftermarket parts to its standard "core" priority, a notable change from its position in recent years.

There was a day when an indexed bracket car would launch and run full throttle to the finish line without one single stutter or delay. Long before NHRA introduced the Pro Gas style of racing (9.80 index) to its sportsman curriculum on an exhibition basis at the 1980 Winternationals, race fans embraced this kind of racing as a heads-up competition on a sportsman level.

CAPPS COLLECTS CAREER WIN NO. 75 WITH SEVENTH TRIUMPH AT BRAINERD

There is just something magical about Brainerd International Raceway to Ron Capps.

Perhaps it is the pristine racing surface and race-favorable conditions. Maybe it is the friends, family and crew members that have such strong ties to the Minnesota area. Or, perhaps, it is the rabid fan base that flocks to the facility each year making up BIR’s famous “Zoo” camping area, with sections such as “Capps’ Corner” showcasing the dedication that these fans have to the sport.

Either way, Capps and BIR have a special relationship dating back several decades. Not only did the eventual Funny Car world champion get his start in the sport on its hallowed grounds, but Capps would go on to dominate at the facility in becoming the second-winningest pro at the track behind only John Force.
