PROJECT 1320 VIDEO CHRONICLES DRAG RACING HISTORY

Compiling a documentary of 50 years of drag racing is a monumental task.
P1320.jpg
Yet, is a venture that a group of people felt had to be done.

Thus,
Traci Hrudka, Steve Cole, Harry Hibler, Don Garlits and Wayne Wolfe
formed Quarter Mile Entertainment, LLC, to complete the project. Hrudka
serves as Quarter Mile Entertainment's chairman of the board.

Quarter
Mile Entertainment's documentary will focus on the years from 1948-89
and chronicle drag racing's pioneers from the heroes and legends of the
sports formative years.

COURTNEY FOLLOWS TRADITION

tad.jpgSeldom does life, let alone drag racing, go according to plan. In Courtney Force's case, it didn't.

However, the 21-year-old daughter of  14-time Funny Car champion John
Force and youngest sister of class contender Ashley Force, isn't
complaining.

Now that she has earned her first National Hot Rod Association victory,
beating fellow Los Angeles-area resident Chris Demke in the final round
of the sportsman-level Top Alcohol Dragster class at last Sunday's
Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceways, Courtney Force has an even
stronger craving for the sport.

NHRA: NO OILDOWN PENALTY REINSTATEMENT

Two
hours of clean-up time at the recently completed NHRA Northwest
Nationals in Seattle isn't enough incentive for the NHRA to reverse
their no-oildown penalty edict handed down at the first of the season.

Graham Light, NHRA Vice President of Competition, admitted that he only had records accessible dating up until Englishtown.

“We haven’t seen a huge variance from last year to this year [at the
same time],” said Light. “We haven’t seen a shift in either direction.”

NHRA TO BE REPRESENTED AT WOMEN IN THE WINNER’S CIRCLE AWARDS CEREMONY

Tom Compton and Graham Light will attend the event hosted by the WIWC
Foundation, whose mission is to advance women in the motorsports
industry

NHRA has long been synonymous with providing opportunity for women so
it’s no surprise that it will be well represented at the annual Women
in the Winner’s Circle Foundation Awards Ceremony.

Ticketmaster outlets.  Fans purchasing tickets through Ticketmaster may
pick up their tickets at the will call window ticket office on race day

CARPENTER BACK IN THE SWING

carpenter_richmond_preview.jpgAfter
making the long haul to the ADRL Hardee’s Independence Drags III in
Topeka, KS without a full run on his rebuilt Pro Nitrous ’55 Chevy,
Charles Carpenter feels much more comfortable about the logistics
facing his Charlotte, NC based team this weekend.

Carpenter and crew are headed into this weekend’s ADRL
NATIONALGUARD.com U.S. Drags II with much more confidence and far less
travel time as they make the short trip north to Virginia Motorsports
Park in Dinwiddie, VA, located just outside Richmond.

ERIC MEDLEN GOLF TOURNEY SEEKS PARTICIPANTS, SPONSORS

Top Fuel driver Morgan Lucas is looking for players and sponsors to
join him for the inaugural Eric Medlen Memorial Golf Tournament
enefitting the Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at St. Vincents in
Indianapolis.

The tournament will take place Thursday, Sept. 3, at Eagle Creek Golf
Club, in advance of the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals presented by Lucas Oil
at O'Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis.

"This is something I've been wanting to do for awhile now and we were
able to get it together for this year's race," Lucas said. "I'm on the
Board of Directors at the Peyton Manning Children's Hospital and I can
say without hesitation that the work they do with children is
second-to-none. They're one of the top facilities in the world and I'm
honored to have this chance to help them gain some much-needed funding.

DRAG RACING SPONSOR GOES ON OFFENSIVE SEEKING SILENT KILLERS

Get Screened America is bringing potential life saving tests and
screenings to NHRA – National Hot Rod Association – fans selected at
national events this fall.  The Get Screened America pavilion,
exhibiting at several recent NHRA race events, provides free blood
pressure checks, blood glucose testing, body mass index (BMI) testing
and skin damage derma-scans to the race attendees.  While Get Screened
America originally focused on high blood pressure, one of the country’s
biggest ‘silent killers’, diabetes, ulcers and certain cancers,
SoloHealth added their EyeSite™ kiosk to Get Screened America’s
program, which offered free vision tests for NHRA fans attending the
Atlanta Georgia and Englishtown New Jersey races.  The NHRA races in
Indianapolis and Charlotte in September are the next events on the Get
Screened America program.

This weekend will mark his first ADRL event participation.

"We've been working on a new small block Chevrolet combination non-stop
for the last 3 months, and we're ready to debut it in Virginia this
weekend," said Wilkins.

Wilkins regularly competes in various Big Dog style events around North
Carolina and does so with a potent small block combination. Much of
that small block knowledge can be attributed to experience as a NASCAR
engine builder.

POWELL: LIFE AFTER NITRO

Former Top Fuel racer Cristen Powell conducted an interview with ESPN2 Saturday evening and it wasn’t difficult to notice the powell.jpghappiness in her eyes.

She was in Seattle at the drags helping her brother-in-law and Top Fuel
racer Joe Hartley, as well as serving the role of honorary crewmember
for Steve Chrisman.

“It’s nice to come out to the races every once in a while,” Powell told ESPN2. “
