JET CARS IN THE MIDDLE EAST?

Jet Cars can end up in the wildest places, even in the Middle East.
Jeddah is the second largest city in Saudi Arabia and is located along
the coast of the Red Sea.

A month ago, the atmosphere of this city was exposed to the tunder of jet-powered dragsters.

The first jet-powered dragsters ever to visit the Kingdom scorched
their way up the newly-opened Jeddah Raceway recently. Driven by
American Chuck Haynes — the cars’ owner — and Australian Gary
Miosevich, the jet cars left the large contingent of spectators shocked.

MULDOWNEY HOSPITALIZED

Four-time World Champion
Shirley Muldowney has been hospitalized in Michigan due to an infected left
ankle.
The ankle, which was surgically fused following her
devastating 1984 crash, has been strained due to two knee replacement
operations, both of which also ultimately resulted from that earlier
accident.
The latest of these, on her right knee, apparently
placed additional pressures on her left leg, and may have been the cause of the
infection.
Muldowney will spend at least the next three days at
Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn, where she’s been treated with a veritable cocktail
of antibiotics, which are being administered via an intravenous
drip.

MOROSO RAINED OUT

It was to be the Thanksgiving weekend to remember and a celebration of 25 years
of power and performance.  There were
vehicles that produce 5 G’s of force with over 8,000 horsepower. They could
clear the ¼ mile in just five seconds. The one thing that wasn’t clear was the
weather.

After battling last night and succumbing to
multiple downpours Sunday morning, the proverbial towel had to be thrown. There
was no end in sight and estimated time to dry a track that kept having rain
dumped on it, exceeded 5 hours. The Murray’s Speed & Custom Mountain Dew
Citrus Nationals would ultimately have the racing postponed until a later
date.

SATURDAY MOROSO QUALIFYING

highlighted the event with 250+mph runs. Jet Funny Cars, Jet Dragsters, the
triple-engine Shockwave Jet Truck and two Wheelstanders thrilled the audience.
NHRA and ET racing classes included Super Gas, the JW Performance Super Street,
Super Comp, Super Pro, Pro, Pro Bike, Street Bike and the Seminole Tribe Quick
16 as well as Jr. Dragsters.
