As if driving a fuel Funny Car isn’t complex enough, he will get to do it alongside three other drivers.

Two-time Top Alcohol Dragster World Champion Megan Meyer will be making a new championship run this season in the inaugural Nitro Chaos Championship Series, a four-race gauntlet across the Midwest. Meyer will be competing at Nitro Chaos events beginning with Edgewater Sports Park near Cincinnati on April 28-29 with the attitude of having fun but also feeding the competitive fire that led her to two NHRA world championships. The popular world champion unveiled a new look racecar yesterday through her new YouTube channel with primary sponsor Gunk and new associate sponsor Shop Squad from NGK NTK. The racer and mother of one is looking forward to building on her Nitro Chaos success from last year.

Mark and Joanne Walter, owners of J-Angel Productions, parent company of MotorManiaTV.com, revealed today a new partnership with Weldon High Performance for the 2023 streaming season on MotorManiaTV.com (MMTV).  

“We find ourselves in a unique situation in the sportsman drag racing world and at a crossroads in the business of streaming those events in today’s racing and economic environment,” stated Mark. “With so many events moving behind a paywall, we wanted to find the right company to help us keep the streams free to the fans, families and crews of the sportsman racer.

With an unfavorable forecast for the weekend, the Chaos Cajun Nationals event has been postponed until September 15-16, 2023. 

“The predicted amount of rainfall this week and weekend simply doesn’t allow us to provide you with the level of entertainment we strive for at the Chaos Cajun Nationals,” Chris Graves, the series founder, said. “With racers from across the country set to travel today and tomorrow, the decision has to be made in a timely manner.”

It's been a whale of a ride for Top Alcohol Dragster frontrunner Duane Shields. After this weekend's Las Vegas NHRA 4-Wide Nationals, he plans to take the exit ramp, ending a 26-year driving career.

For Shield, a successful Las Vegas-based businessman, there's no place like home to call it a career.

After Matt Hagan defeated Ron Capps in the finals of the Lucas Oil Winternationals on April 2, many topics were addressed by Hagan in his post-race press conference.

One element brought up was Hagan’s respect for Capps.

“We parked motorhomes together back in the day, and I guess I was just a good church boy, and Capps is a great guy who took me under his wing,” Hagan said. “He was the first guy that ever invited me out to eat dinner with his family to have a beer with them and break me in and say, ‘Hey man, you’re new on the scene,’ and that’s why I have so much love for Capps.

Cory McClenathan knows how to win the NHRA ranks.

McClenathan has won 34 Top Fuel national events in 65 final rounds and qualified No. 1 an incredible 38 times. Yet he had not won since the 2010 season while driving for Don Schumacher Racing.

That changed on April 2.

McClenathan won the Legends Funny Car title over an eight-car field of Nostalgia Funny Cars at the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals in Pomona, Calif.

When you've been mentored as Daniel Wilkerson has, success becomes a natural byproduct. Along with sophomore Funny Car driver Chad Green, the second-generation tuner who sometimes makes cameo-driving appearances is a chip off the old block.

Wilkerson serves as Green's tuner and team manager, who, except for a Sunday snafu in Pomona, has been running and winning like a seasoned veteran team.

Saturday afternoon, while racing in the #2Fast2Tasty Challenge during the NHRA Winternationals in Pomona, Ca., Green drove to victory in the Funny Car portion of the race-within-a-race.

It was a simple exchange that happened almost like clockwork every evening at 6:30 PM EST or 30 minutes after quitting time in the Central time zone.

Rickie Smith's phone would ring, and on the other end of the conversation would be the same question, "What's for supper?"

Like the 5:10 Amtrak train rolling through town, Smith's friend, who happened to be his race car chassis builder, Jerry Bickel, would dial the King, NC-based drag racing champion's phone and make the all-important inquiry.

No, Bickel wasn't coming over for supper but knowing how important the meal is in the southern culture, he knew the importance of this piece of data.
