In 1984, Bob Brockmeyer introduced CompuLink Timing Systems at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colo.

Now, 38 years later, Brockmeyer will be honored where it all started for his world-famous timing system.

THE LEGEND OF MR. DIRT AND HIS RENT-A-RACER

Mr. Dirt didn't invent the practice of renting a race car; he just made it fashionable.

For obvious reasons, Mr. Dirt prefers to keep his true identity unlisted, but it can be revealed with a reasonable amount of detective work. He prefers to have a race car he doesn't have to do anything to but put in gas, and even then, with the option to return it on empty - he can just run off of a pre-paid amount. He simply rents them and returns them after he'd picked up a fair amount of loot in the process.

RYAN OEHLER PARTNERS WITH EL BANDIDO YANKEE TEQUILA FOR REMAINING OF 2022

Flyin’ Ryan Oehler, an NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle owner/rider announced July 13 he will partner with El Bandido Yankee Tequila for the remaining of the 2022 season with the debut of the partnership at the weekend’s 42nd annual Dodge Power Brokers NHRA Mile-High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colo.

“We are thrilled to welcome El Bandido Yankee Tequila to professional drag racing,” Oehler said in a press release. “Our strategic alliance with the brand will aid in distribution efforts across the remaining 2022 NHRA National event stops as well as bring brand awareness through our racing initiatives on track.”

El Bandido Yankee Tequila has two product offerings, a Blanco and Reposado tequila with a third product, Tequila Anejo hitting the market soon. The branding and label reflect its deep ties to the renowned Jalisco (Mexico) region, along with its playful depiction of a mysterious bandido who's always ready to chase down fun and raise a glass in celebration.

CARUSO INKS FIVE-RACE DEAL WITH TEQUILLA COMISARIO

As the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series takes on the historic and sometimes grueling Western Swing NHRA Pro Stock rookie Camrie Caruso is fortifying her marketing relationships with the addition of award-winning, ultra-premium Tequila Comisario as primary sponsor for the three race stretch as well as the Topeka Nationals and U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis. Caruso and Tequila Comisario have much in common. Since its release Tequila Comisario has become the most awarded brand in the entire Tequila category and as Caruso’s rookie season has unfolded, she is off to one of the best starts in the category’s history.

“We are thrilled to add Tequila Comisario as a marketing partner for five races including the Western Swing and our biggest race of the year the U.S. Nationals,” said Caruso, who will be tackling the Western Swing for the first time this weekend. “This season has gotten off to a great start for our team and our marketing partners. Adding Tequila Comisario is huge for our team and we are excited to continue to introduce them to the great NHRA fans.”

Estate grown, in the unique appellation of the Highlands of Jalisco, with a unique terroir gives Tequila Comisario a slightly more fruit forward profile, yet keeping in balance the peppery, earthy spiciness of the 100% Blue Weber Agave, along with subtle, complex note from its barrel aging programs. The award-winning Tequila also has an ambassador relationship with Country Western star Colt Ford who will be performing at the U.S. Nationals and then later in the year at the Texas Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex.

WILL SMITH SET TO LICENSE IN LARRY DIXON’S TOP FUELER

Will Smith plans to take a leap of faith in pursuing his longtime dream of piloting a Top Fuel Dragster. Next month that dream comes one step closer as Smith will license behind the wheel of Larry Dixon’s dragster.

Smith made the difficult decision this season to step away from the Top Alcohol program he had piloted for four years. This training ground was the natural step before getting licensed in Top Fuel.

“I knew I wanted to give this Top Fuel opportunity my all,” explained Smith. “Getting my license is a big thing to check off my list on this journey. At this point, I’m more than ready and can’t wait for the Northern Nationals to get here.”

PAST INDY TOP FUEL CHAMPION MCMILLEN BUYS A DRAG STRIP

Admittedly, outside of his desire to race Top Fuel, past NHRA U.S. Nationals champion Terry McMillen has had an interest in owning a dragstrip.

A few years ago when he was in the very public process of purchasing Osceola Dragway in Osceola, IN, a lawsuit against the county for rezoning the property put the sale on hold. The owners were eager to sell, and with the uncertainty of the pandemic and how long the lawsuit would last, McMillen gave them the option to sell to a different buyer who didn’t need the land rezoned to purchase. That buyer ultimately turned the land into farmland.

Over the next few years, McMillen did his due diligence, shopping for another opportunity: hoping to find one that made sense for his family's future, but there was always something that made him rule each track out.

The three-race stretch from Denver to Sonoma to Seattle will highlight Revchem’s alliance and contributions to Kalitta Motorsports.
