Fuel Altered Chaos will return to Tucson Dragway on Nov. 14-15 with its largest field in event history. The show will feature 24 cars in the main event following a collaboration between track owner Jim Hughes and promoters Chris and Tera Graves.

The CHAOS series, known for its “run whatcha’ brung” format, will hold its first event in Arizona after building a strong following since 2017. More than 30 drivers from across the country have pre-entered, with cars coming from as far as Washington, Utah, West Virginia and Texas.

Local racers from Arizona, New Mexico and California will also compete in the two-day event. Organizers expanded the field from 16 cars to 24 after pre-entries quickly surpassed expectations.

The increased field will bring a $35,000 guaranteed purse. Drivers will compete in three eight-car fields after three qualifying sessions.

The top eight qualifiers will race in the CP-Carrillo A Field, with the next eight in the B Field and the final group in the C Field. All racing will take place on an eighth-mile track.

“Jim (Hughes) and I are very excited about the support we’ve seen so far for this first edition of Fuel Altered Chaos,” Graves said. “Adding a C Field to the event is a no-brainer for us. It qualifies more racers, adds to the main event on Saturday and delivers more action for the fans.”

The field will include nitromethane-burning machines, blown alcohol cars and three turbocharged altereds. Entrants feature classic names like “Sheephearder,” “Rat Poison,” “Bradford’s Fiat” and “The Mob,” along with newer cars such as “Witch Doctor,” “Cone Hunter” and “Showtime.”

More drivers are expected to pre-enter before race weekend. Organizers say the event will bring two days of side-by-side outlaw drag racing to the historic track.
