Jason Rupert grew up at the drag strip watching his father Frank run up and down the roads all over the west coast racing both Top Fuel and Funny Car.
Rupert aspired to be a drag racer for as long as he can remember. When the opportunity to give back to Frank, he quickly pounced on the opportunity.
One of Rupert's favorite and more successful rides was the Eagle Electric AA/FD; the car was restored by Stan Canter. Together he and brother Matthew,along with friend Dave Schwartz purchased the car as a gift.

Top Fuel points leader Steve Torrence, a Kilgore, Texas native, was uninjured and exited the vehicle under his own power after his dragster lost control after crossing the finish line during the second round of eliminations. Torrence won the round against Richie Crampton. Per NHRA rules, Torrence was able to bring out a back-up car to race in the semifinal round where he lost to Brittany Force.

Things got heated in a hurry for NHRA fuel Funny car racer Daniel Wilkerson during the NHRA Fall Nationals outside of Dallas, Tex. This explosion, which transpired during Friday's Q-1 session, was so severe it broke the chassis and prevented him from making a run in the second session. He suffered no apparent injury in the incident.
