James Daniels, for the second consecutive season, will leave the NHRA U.S. Nationals $15,000 richer.

Daniels, behind the wheel of the Ray Barton-themed Dodge Dart, used a .01 reaction and an 8.404 elapsed time to beat Wendell Howes, who spun the tires at the hit and coasted through the lights at 9.923 seconds.

Pro Modified history was made Saturday night as Mike Bowman pocketed $100,000 in the richest drag race of its type. The Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Modified lived up to the billing, as 16 of the toughest door slammer racers in this arena gathered at Bandimere Speedway, just outside of Denver, to battle tooth and nail for the winner-take-all prize. Adding to the challenge, there are no elapsed times or speeds revealed. There is no qualifying, and the pairings were random pick making for tense competition. NMCA Pro Mod racer Adam Flamholc proved today at Route 66 Raceway, during the first round of the NMCA-NMRA Super Bowl of Street Legal drag racing, eighth-mile drag racing can be dangerous too. Flamholc was uninjured in the mishap, but the same cannot be said for his blown '63 Corvette.

CPTV FEATURE: GASSER RACER JUST WANTED TO RACE HEADS UP

At 70-years old, drag racing suspension manufacturer Ronnie Santhuff knows exactly what he wants to do in his golden years.

Santhuff, who has specialized in making shocks for cars designed to race extremely fast, didn't want to have to run 200 miles per hour to race heads up without a dial-in. He's found a home with the Southeast Gassers Association, running a C/Gasser he built himself.

Santhuff, by his own admission, is having the time of his life with the Texas Shooter. This is his story.
