Top Fuel is the top of the food chain for drag racing. In just two years, former Junior Dragster racerJustin Ashley has climbed the ladder of drag racing progression. After a year of racing Top Dragster, Ashley used the tutelage of noted drag racing instructor Frank Hawley to move into Top Alcohol Dragster, where in his first three races recorded a win, runner-up and a No. 1 qualifying effort. Recently he added a Top Fuel license to his growing resume. Recently, he earned his Top Fuel license under the guidance of Antron Brown and the Matco Tools Top Fuel team. He's proven a quick study just like his father Mike, a two-time Pro Modified champion, who won Indy in only his second season of Funny Car racing. Watch the excitement and passion of this youthful drag racer who represents the next generation of this sport.

On July 4, 2017, at Alaska Raceway Park, John Dixon piloting the Trophy Hunter AA/FA experienced a massive blower explosion. Parts and pieces launched even with blower restraints. Dixon was unscathed.

Ron Capps (Funny Car) and Alex Laughlin (Pro Stock) were also winners in their respective categories at the 11th event of 24 on the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule.
