Quick Fuel Technology (QFT), a major contingency sponsor for the 2009 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series and the Lucas Oil qft.jpgDrag
Racing Series, has introduced its new series of QFX race-engineered
carburetors now approved for Pro Stock, Pro Mod and several Super
Stock, Comp Eliminator and Super Eliminator classes.

BRYCE'S HEMI DART - SNEAK PEEK

DSC00818.JPGKnown for his exploits in Pro Stock Motorcycle, George Bryce sent us a few pictures of his latest Hemi endeavor.

Bryce and Ray Barton have formed a unique partnership to offer a
re-creation of the 1968 Super Stock Dodge Darts and Plymouth
Barracudas.  Designed by Bryce Customs, manufactured and assembled by
Ray Barton Racing these vehicles will be limited to just 10 units: 5
Darts and 5 Barracudas, and each one will be handcrafted to exacting
standards and will carry its own serial number designating it as an
authentic B2 creation.

FORCE HOOD NEXT FOR BOSS 500

John Force Racing tuner John Medlen has said that eventually all of
John Force Racing’s Mustangs would run the Boss 500, the special Ford
nitro engine, developed by JFR, Ford and Medlen.

The time is drawing near for Force Hood’s team to make the transition, although there’s no set date.

Force Hood’s crew chief Dean “Guido” Antonelli believes the engine
combination will make an already successful team, even better. The team
is tied for fourth in the point standings after seven events.

MCCLENATHAN AND PROCK: ROOKIES ON A MISSION

The mere thought of a reunion evokes memories of what could have been
and what will likely be. It’s a reunion not likely to happen 4-28-09corymacprock.jpgbefore one
of the two retires. But if it does, the drag racing community has
already been afforded a preview.

Top Fuel driver Cory McClenathan and veteran tuner Jimmy Prock came
within one round, the equivalent of 100 points, of winning a world
championship. They were 92 points out to be exact.

An independent team with a rookie crew chief and a novice nitro driver
and yet they stood tall with the finest of the class for one magical
season.

“We blew up our fair share of parts that’s for sure,” McClenathan
recalled. “In the process, I learned how to drive and Jimmy learned how
to tune a car. That was the biggest thing. I was out here for fun.

WORLD FOOTBRAKE CHALLENGE iii PRE-ENTRY DEADLINE A MONTH AWAY

The 2009 edition of the BTE World Footbrake Challenge comes to Bristol
Dragway (Bristol, TN) July 17-19, 2009. The event, which annually posts
one of the largest purses and greatest race atmospheres for Footbrake
competitors promises to be bigger and better than ever. In an effort to
cater to the average competitor in these tough economic times, the
$50,000-to-win main event (and the large entry fee that accompanied it)
is a thing of the past. In it’s place, the World Footbrake Challenge
will host a trio of $10,000-to-win events, with a weekend entry fee of
just $350 (if pre-entered by June 1). Tech cards will also be available
to participants who are not pre-entered, at a cost of $150 per day.

JEGS U.S. OPEN BRACKET CHAMPIONSHIPS COME TO O'REILLY RACEWAY PARK, JUNE 18-21

The “Big Go of Bracket Racing” makes its return to O’Reilly Raceway
Park in Indianapolis next month, as the JEGS U.S. Open Bracket
Championships comes to the illustrious Indiana facility for four days
of the greatest bracket competition on the planet. The event features a
purse of well over $200,000 in cash and prizes to be distributed
throughout the weekend. Presenting sponsors for the event include Auto
Meter, Danny Nelson’s Race Craft Chassis, and Steve Schmidt Competition
Engines. This season’s daily events will be presented by American Race
Cars, DragsterForSale.com, Motorvation, and The Fab Shop.

The same features that have made the JEGS U.S. Open one of the premier
events in sportsman drag racing will remain in place. The 3-day
(Friday-Sunday) weekend entry is just $500; and the three events pay a
whopping $20,000 (Friday and Saturday) and $10,000 (Sunday) to win.
Payback starts with third round winners on each day of competition; so
any competitor that can win third round on each day of the event has
their weekend entry fee covered. There will be no buybacks in the event
as long as the race features over 256 entries (there have been no
buybacks at the JEGS U.S. Open events since the inaugural event five
years ago). As always, the purse for the event is 100% guaranteed; and
special features include one-of-a-kind JEGS trophies for the champions,
in addition to a host of products giveaways and prizes throughout the
weekend.

WOMEN RACERS OFFERING A DAY AT THE RACES FOR BREAST CANCER SURIVIVORS AND SUPPORTERS

Four NHRA Drag Racers are proud to announce 'A Day at the Races' to
support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment.
Top Dragster driver, Tina Stull, Kate and Diana Harker from the Top
Alcohol Dragster ranks and Peggy Llewellyn of Pro Stock Motorcycle,
will be providing opportunities to various Texas foundations and
including the 1 in 8 Foundation in order to raise awareness of this
life and death issue.

"Breast cancer is a reality for women these days," said Diana Harker.
"When 1 in 8 women will be effected by breast cancer it is easy to say,
'I won't be the 1' . But then if you say "Do I know 8 women?', You
realize this does effect you no matter how you look at it."

Betting on the fact that Drag Racing, traditionally a "man's" sport and
breast cancer, a predominately womens issue are a surprising
partnership. These racers are painting the big picture and hoping that
people see, this cancer is highly treatable when detected early and the
days of false modesty are behind us.

NATIONAL GUARD ADRL RETURNS TO MEMPHIS

Following a two-year hiatus, the National Guard American Drag Racing League (ADRL) is returning to Memphis Motorsports Park May memphis_logo300px.jpg22-23,
with the Quarter-Max Memphis Drags II, which is shaping up to be
another standing-room only event for the all-eighth-mile drag racing
series.

During its first two national events this year, the National Guard ADRL
set new attendance records at major racing facilities in Houston, TX,
and Valdosta, GA, and series president and co-founder Kenny Nowling
expects that trend to continue.
