Bob Vandergriff Racing driver Jordan Vandergriff, whose father Kevin runs the family business Hedman Hedders, could be climbing the ladder of nitro stardom before the end of the season. We are told steps are already being put in place for him to not only earn his Top Fuel license but also quite possibly, enter a few races in the top eliminator before the end of the season. 

It was just last week that Tommy DeLago was released from his role as co-crew chief for Kalitta Motorsports. Word comes to us today, another co-crew chief on a prominent nitro team was also let go from their role. Expect news of this to break in the next few days. 

One of the more prominent rumors floating around the pits at Heartland Park - Topeka suggests one of the full-time teams in the already narrowed Pro Stock entry list is already preparing for 2018 to be their final season. We'll be interested to see who shakes out when the bushes start moving. 

Apparently, the reports of the Mopar Hemi Challenge's demise have been greatly exaggerated. With this said, remember tomorrow is National Hemi Day (4/26)

UPDATED - DODGE HEMI SHOOTOUT RETURNS TO INDY

Inside sources confirm past NHRA champion Jerry Savoie will have a teammate this season replacing the void left by LE Tonglet. We are told veteran rider Steve Johnson will be the rider. This could be a very good season for Vance & Hines' Suzuki-powered teams. 

Word has floated our way that says low-buck favorite and recent Strange Throwback Showdown 2 champion Jeff Diehl has inked enough sponsorship to the point we could very well see he and wife Leeza at more races, and possibly a full schedule. We are told an official announcement is planned for Friday at the NHRA Winternationals. 

While the rumor is floating around the Mopar Hemi Shootout is history and will not be contested this season at the NHRA U.S. Nationals, we are told this is far from being set in stone.

Our sources close to the situation suggest the final answer will come at the NHRA Gatornationals in March.
