COMBINING FORCES IN PRO STOCK

The question being asked in the Pro Stock is which two team owners are combining resources next year.  One is currently running
Dodge engines, and the other GM engines. Let the speculation begin.

THE ICEMAN'S TOYOTA

Shannon Jenkins and Mike Castellana were going to build late model cars for the 2007 season. Jenkins was banking on a GTO and Castellana was going to have a Mustang GT. After the IHRA made their adjustment banning Pro Stock legal bodies, the duo planned to run a pair of 1963 Corvettes. Apparently that plan has changed and now Jenkins is reportedly planning to field a brand new Toyota Solara. Even though this car is a late-model, it is legal because the rule stipulates the bodies cannot be legal for Pro Stock. Pro Stock rules mandate that all bodies must be domestic.

KRISHER IN A MOPAR?

Ron Krisher in a Mopar? That's what we're hearing and it will happen for next
season. Apparently, as our source tells us, Krisher will begin leasing engines
from Larry Morgan. We'll just have to see how this one plays out. UPDATE - While Krisher confirmed that he has had talks with Morgan, he's elected to remain with his Chevrolet program for 2007.

CANNON IN A 1967 CAMARO

Word has it that Scotty Cannon is already making the adjustment for the body
style rules that limit Pro Stock style bodies in Pro Modified. Reportedly,
Cannon has already sold his new Pontiac GTO and will do battle in a new
Vanishing Point Race Cars 1967 Camaro utilizing one of the new Cynergy
Composites bodies. If what we're hearing is true, this will be one of the
slickest Pro Modifieds to hit the track next year.

GLIDDEN AND MASKIN PART WAYS?

Torco's CompetitionPlus.com has learned from a reliable source that Bob Glidden
and Dick Maskin have parted ways after a little over a month of working
together. The word we are getting is the two just didn't see eye-to-eye on some
things. We'll have more on this story as news becomes available.

RACING FOR PINKS AT NORWALK?

A source tell us that Bill Bader Jr. informed racers at the
Norwalk Raceway Park Bracket Finals pre-meeting that he is strongly considering
letting some racers from the Detroit/Cleveland area use the track for an hour or
two to race for pinks at the upcoming Halloween Classic XXXIII. This
one ought to be interesting.

TOP DRAGSTER IN NHRA?

Word has it that Top Dragster will soon be added to the NHRA Division 2 line-up.
For those not familiar with this classification, this eliminator is an
open-bodied equivalent to Top Sportsman - quick cars that run on a dial-in. Top
Sportsman was added a few seasons ago to the Division 2 format and ran at the
national event this year in Atlanta. The sponsor of this new addition is said to
be Jeff Pittman's Hickory Trailer sales.

MILAN TO GET IHRA WORLD NATIONALS?

A source close to the situation has said that the IHRA may not be banking on the
new Mansfield strip being done in time for the 2007 season. With that said, we
are hearing that Milan, Michigan could most likely take over the World Nationals
and its traditional date. We are hearing the IHRA's 2007 schedule will be
released soon.

FORREST LUCAS - EVAN KNOLL TEAM?

Have you ever wondered what would happen if Forrest Lucas or Evan Knoll were to
combine forces on a fuel team? It could very well happen. Our source indicate
that in 2007 the two could bring to the table a front-running team with some
well-known names involved in the mix. This one ought to get interesting.

HAMMONDS SNAGS KRISHER ENGINE MAN

Tom Hammonds may have a fast-break to start his Pro Stock program. Word has it
that Ron Krisher's engine man Jimmy Oliver will be heading up the program for
Hammonds. Our source close to the situation tells us that Krisher only found out
about when a member of the media asked him his opinion.
