Slick Willie Brainerd took the win Sunday (10/7)  during the O’Reilly
Super Chevy Show  presented by JEGS – Aeromotive Nitro Coupe Challenge at
San Antonio Raceway, but  Willie couldn’t gain enough ground in the points
to join Missouri brothers Cody and Zach Barklage and Tennessee’s Tony
"Sandman" Williams as the front-runners for the 2007 world championship.
After San Antonio and with just two national events to go, Cody Barklage has
a 20 point lead on Tony Williams with brother Zach 25 points behind Williams.
In San Antonio, both Barklage brothers displayed the awesome ETs and
speed that have marked their run to the top of the Aeromotive Nitro
Coupe standings, but it was Louisiana’s Bill Doucet who notched low
qualifier honors with a stunning 6.0887 at 222.88 mph in his Corvette
Aeromotive Nitro Coupe.  On elimination Day, Willie Brianerd did Cody
Barklage a huge  favor
when he took out "Sandman" Williams in the semis, thus
setting up a Zach Barklage/Willie Brianerd final. Brainerd turned in a
struggling 7.049 at 156.09 in the final but it was enough to defeat Zach,
whose ’57 Chevy Aeromotive Nitro Coupe just couldn’t make it
happen.
The O’Reilly Super Chevy Show heads to Okie country this weekend
for a Saturday-Sunday blowout at Tulsa Raceway Park and will then head to
South Florida for the season finale with a visit to Moroso Raceway Park.
