CITGO Petroleum Corporation has joined Elite Motorsports, LLC as its newest partner, the team announced Friday.
Mystik Lubricants, a CITGO-produced brand, will be featured on the Pro Stock cars of Erica Enders, Jeg Coughlin Jr., Aaron Stanfield, Troy Coughlin Jr., and Greg Stanfield beginning this weekend at the NHRA Nationals in Brainerd, Minn.
“It’s exciting to bring on a new partner to Elite Motorsports. It shows growth in the sport of drag racing, growth in Pro Stock. We look forward to building this partnership,” said Richard Freeman, owner of Elite Motorsports, LLC. “Our crew is looking forward to utilizing Mystik’s great products. We only use the best in our camp, so it only makes sense to have Mystik in the fold with Elite.”
The partnership will officially launch over Labor Day weekend at the 71st annual Cornwell Quality Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis.
CITGO, headquartered in Houston, operates three refineries on the Gulf Coast and Midwest, maintains a network of pipelines and terminals, and produces lubricants tested in real-world conditions.

“We are excited about this new partnership with Elite Motorsports,” said Braden McElroy, CITGO General Manager, Lubricants. “Having the Mystik Lubricants logo displayed on multiple drag cars provides great brand visibility. This collaboration represents a strong alliance, similar to the dependable performance of Mystik® JT-6® Greases and CITGO® CITGARD® Heavy Duty Engine Oils in any demanding situation.”
Fritz Sports & Event Enterprises will manage the relationship between CITGO and Elite Motorsports.
“We are honored to be a part of bringing CITGO and its Mystik brand into the Elite Motorsports family,” said Doug Fritz, CEO of Fritz Sports & Events. “CITGO is an iconic company with worldwide brand recognition and has a long and rich history in motorsports. CITGO is a perfect fit for the businesses and fans who support motorsports and the NHRA. We are looking forward to seeing CITGO grow within the sport.”
This weekend’s event in Brainerd is the second-to-last stop of the regular season for the Mission Foods NHRA Drag Racing Series. The regular season concludes with the U.S. Nationals before the six-race Countdown to the Championship begins Sept. 12-14 in Reading, Pa.
