Daido Metal Performance Bearings will serve as the primary sponsor on Paul Lee’s FTI Performance Nitro Funny Car at this weekend’s NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series World Finals in Pomona. The partnership highlights the company’s engineering presence in one of motorsports’ most demanding environments.

Daido Metal continues to collaborate closely with Lee’s crew chiefs to refine the team’s nitro-specific bearing technology. The partnership will also feature a “Dealer of the Race” promotion with Daido’s exclusive distribution partner, SRI, offering limited-time discounts for racers and enthusiasts on all Daido bearings.

The relationship between Daido and Paul Lee Racing extends beyond branding, serving as a validation of the company’s high-performance bearing technology. The 11,000-horsepower Nitro Funny Car serves as a proving ground for Daido’s precision, durability, and heat resistance.

“Daido’s precision lets builders push tighter clearances and higher RPM with confidence,” said Ron Brock, Daido Metal’s Strategic Development Manager. “Our involvement with Paul Lee Racing underscores our commitment to bearing development, material science, and data-driven engineering applied to the racetrack.”

Brock added that Lee’s team mirrors Daido’s focus on discipline and detail. “We’re proud to support a racer who shares our obsession with data, durability, and excellence,” he said.

Daido Metal’s influence spans from OEM manufacturers to professional nitro and sportsman racers, each seeking strength and consistency under load. Its collaboration with Lee’s team underscores Daido’s belief that data, durability, and teamwork are fundamental to reliability and performance.

SRI helped introduce Daido Metal to the Paul Lee Racing program, connecting the company with championship-winning crew chief John Medlen. The partnership has since delivered results, with Daido bearings contributing to Lee’s win in Phoenix and two No. 1 qualifying efforts during the 2025 NHRA season.

“It’s awesome that we can celebrate this partnership in Pomona with PLR, Daido Metal and SRI,” said Lee. “Together, we’ve developed, tested, and won with their nitro bearings at the highest level. The Dealer of the Race promotion is a great way to give racers and fans access to that same performance.”

Lee’s 2025 campaign marks his best season to date, highlighted by his first NHRA Funny Car victory in Phoenix, multiple final-round appearances, and two No. 1 qualifiers. Entering the Pomona World Finals, Lee and his team sit sixth in points with an opportunity to finish in the top five.
