NHRA adjusted Friday’s qualifying schedule for this weekend’s NHRA Southern Nationals, moving the start times earlier for the Mission Drag Racing Series categories at South Georgia Motorsports Park.
The first round of professional qualifying will now begin at 11:15 a.m. Eastern on Friday.
NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle and NHRA Pro Stock will open the session, followed by NHRA Funny Car and NHRA Top Fuel at noon.
The second round of qualifying is scheduled to begin at 1:45 p.m. with Pro Stock Motorcycle, followed by Pro Stock. Funny Car and Top Fuel will run at 2:30 p.m.
This weekend marks the first NHRA national event at South Georgia Motorsports Park, bringing the Southern Nationals to a new home in South Georgia.
The Southern Nationals name carries a long history in NHRA competition, and the move to Adel places one of the tour’s established events in a region with deep roots in drag racing.
Friday’s sportsman schedule also begins early, with action in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series starting at 8:30 a.m. Gates open at 8 a.m.
