The Southeast Gassers Association has postponed this weekend’s Rumble In Ringgold at Brainerd Motorsports Park after worsening weather forecasts forced track and series officials to move the third event of the 2026 championship season to June 12-13.
SEGA officials announced the decision this week after monitoring forecasts calling for heavy rain and unstable conditions across northern Georgia and southeastern Tennessee. The event had originally been scheduled for May 30.
The postponement continues a frustrating stretch for drag racing organizations throughout the Southeast, where repeated weather systems have disrupted schedules during the spring portion of the season. Independent series such as SEGA often face difficult decisions because available race weekends become limited once tracks begin reshuffling existing schedules.
SEGA owner and competitor Leslie Horne said officials exhausted available options before deciding to move the event.
“It’s been tough, it’s been a rollercoaster,” Horne said concerning watching the weather change radically for the worst up to the postponement decision. “We really don’t have any other choice but to postpone – great news is that Amy [Brainerd Motorsports Park Track Manager] has worked with us tirelessly to find an open weekend to race.”
The series confirmed the Rumble In Ringgold will remain the third points race of the 2026 season despite the scheduling change. Brainerd Motorsports Park will now host the event on June 12-13.
That adjustment keeps the SEGA championship schedule intact while allowing racers, teams and fans to prepare for a mid-June return. It also prevents the series from creating a larger scheduling conflict deeper into the season, where available weekends become increasingly scarce.
Under the revised schedule, SEGA-only test and tune sessions will begin Friday at 5 p.m. Eastern, with gates opening at 3 p.m. Admission for Friday is set at $20.
Saturday’s program will feature qualifying beginning at 1 p.m. Eastern followed by championship eliminations. Saturday admission is listed at $25, while weekend passes will cost $35.
The Southeast Gassers Association has continued to build one of the strongest nostalgia drag racing followings in the Southeast by emphasizing period-correct machines and old-school heads-up competition. The organization’s schedule stretches across Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina and Mississippi before concluding at Shadyside Dragway on Oct. 31.
Following Brainerd, the series moves to Knoxville Dragway on June 27 before stops at Rockingham Dragway, Farmington Dragway and Greer Dragway. Gulfport Dragway hosts a double-feature weekend Oct. 9-10 before the season finale in Shelby, N.C.
