NHRA has fined Erica Enders $5,000 and deducted 100 championship points for using rear wheels at the Super Grip NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals that did not meet specifications for Pro Stock. The penalties follow the disqualification of her run during the fourth round of qualifying in Bristol.

The team has the option to appeal the financial penalty. Proceeds from the fine will support the NHRA Safety Safari’s capabilities.

CompetitionPlus.com reached out to Elite Motorsports who provided the following statement, “It’s absolutely ridiculous. We spoke with Rick Dodge the week prior in Epping about that wheel and asked his opinion. He checked the rulebook, as he did Saturday in Bristol. The wheel is a beadlock, the proper width, and exceeds the SFI specification.

“We would love an explanation of how that warrants a 100-point deduction and a $5,000 fine. Whoever made that decision is clearly delusional.

“The NHRA rulebook does not say a liner is illegal. It is legal in Pro Mod and in the Alcohol categories. It is not a performance advantage but a disadvantage due to the weight.”
