The stars of NHRA’s sportsman ranks took center stage Saturday at Texas Motorplex, where veteran racers Joey Severance and Jim Whiteley added to their illustrious careers and Team Southeast captured the overall crown in the 41st annual JEGS Allstars. The prestigious event, held during the 40th annual Texas NHRA FallNationals, showcased the top regional and divisional talent in the Mission Foods Drag Racing Series.

Each season, the JEGS Allstars brings together champions from across NHRA’s seven geographic divisions to compete for individual honors and team glory. By day’s end, the Southeast Division (Division 2) claimed the overall title with 1,600 points, followed by the North Central Division (Division 3) with 1,000 and the South Central Division (Division 4) with 900. The West Region also captured the regional team title.

In Top Alcohol Dragster, Oregon’s Joey Severance once again proved why he’s one of the category’s most respected names. The four-time national champion turned in a 5.269-second pass at 275.60 mph to defeat Matt Cummings, who went up in smoke early and coasted to an 8.57 at 95 mph. “We got out front and stayed there,” Severance said. “It’s always special to win one of these for your division.”

Another seasoned champion, Jim Whiteley, delivered in Top Alcohol Funny Car, powering his Camaro to a 5.469 at 265.16 mph to defeat Brian Hough. Whiteley left first and never trailed, claiming his third career JEGS Allstars title. “It feels great to win one again — these cars are so competitive now,” Whiteley said. “You have to be perfect every round.”

In Competition Eliminator, Monty Bogan gave Division 2 another reason to celebrate, overcoming a starting-line deficit to drive around Joshua Lee with an 8.588 at 156.73 mph. The victory marked the Southeast team’s fourth Comp win in event history.

The Super Stock final was decided by inches. Jeremy Duncan defeated Larry Leazer by just .0025 seconds — roughly six inches at the stripe — running a 9.406 at 137.91 mph.

Steve Foley delivered again for Division 2 in Stock Eliminator, running a 10.023 at 119.23 mph after Landon Emmons lost traction off the line. Foley’s consistent driving helped pad the Southeast’s growing team advantage.

Tanner Thorp claimed the Super Comp title in dramatic fashion, using a .018 reaction time and an 8.894 to earn a double-breakout win over Bradley Snowball. In Super Gas, Jim Perry capitalized when Charlie Kenopic went red at the start, handing Perry the win at 9.880 and 168 mph.

Dennis Dawson claimed Top Sportsman after Curt Fredrich fouled on the tree, while Blake Peavler capped the afternoon with a Top Dragster win, running 6.180 at 230.04 mph.

For Team Southeast, the collective effort across multiple categories sealed their championship. From Bogan’s precision to Foley’s consistency, the squad’s dominance defined the day.
