Former NHRA Pro Stock driver Joe Lepone Jr., 61, died on July 12 after a battle with throat cancer.  He is survived by his wife Cynthia.

Lepone, who once drove for the legendary Bill “Grumpy” Jenkins, had a storied career of winning the 1985 NHRA World Finals and finished runner-up six times. He also finished in the top 10 eight times during an NHRA career that spanned two decades.

Lepone moved his competitive skills over to Pro Modified where he became a solid member of the community up until his passing.

A fund has been set up to help his family with medical bills and funeral expenses. CLICK HERE TO CONTRIBUTE
