There’s one thing about Scotty Cannon in his heyday in Pro Modified. He wasn’t afraid to be confident. It was his favorite mechanism of response to his critics who often accused him of cheating. 


During one stretch of 1993, the always forward-thinking Cannon got the idea to try out an intercooler on a supercharged engine. It worked so well he tore up three engines in one race and scrapped the idea. The set-up Cannon had looked every bit like nitrous on a supercharged combination which quickly drew the ire of his naysayers. 


In this early edition of the Storytellers series, Cannon tells the day he took his king rooster bravado up against a sanctioning body which inspired his crew to ask the six-time champion, “How did that work out for you?
