IHRA has reported an incident during the second qualifying session at the inaugural Outlaw Series Event at National Trail Raceway outside of Columbus, Ohio.

 

According to an IHRA statement issued to the media, Top Sportsman racer Marvin Blaney’s Top Sportsman ’63 Corvette suffered an engine explosion after the burnout. Blaney was removed from the vehicle and transported to a local medical facility for further evaluation.

 

Blaney’s social media made the following post on Wednesday afternoon. 


“Thank you for all of the prayers, as they are desperately needed right now, period. Marvin is in intensive care from the two horrific explosions that destroyed his race car and almost took his life. His angels were watching over him. Please keep the prayers coming.”
