Leading Australian Top Fuel team owner Phil Lamattina has confirmed plans to run a single-car operation and that long-term sponsor FUCHS Lubricants will continue their partnership for the 2023-2024 NDRC season beginning on October 21-22.
LTFR has run two cars for the past two seasons—one with Phil Lamattina and the second with ex-Nitro Funny Car racer Shane Olive.
The Olive entry raced under the banner of Burson Auto Parts, who also sponsored the Australian Top Fuel Championship series and, in August, revealed they were withdrawing their sponsorship of Australian drag racing.
“The team will be using all its resources on a single car this season. We want another championship,” said two-time Aussie champ Lamattina.
“The sponsorship and commercial relationship between LTFR and FUCH Lubricants is one of the strongest in Australian motorsport and goes back over 20 years. We have always had the very best products and we are so proud to continue to have FUCHS as an ongoing part of our team.”
The Lamattina family is one of Australia’s largest carrot growers and, not surprisingly, Phil races under the moniker of the “Carrot King.”
“Our mission for this season, like every other, is straightforward – we are here to win,” added Lamattina.
