Travel back in time to the inaugural NHRA Southern Nationals in Commerce, Ga., just outside of Atlanta. With the uncertainty of the future of the track, let’s travel back in time to the first one.


This event was the first sanctioned after the facility made the switch from IHRA sanction to NHRA.


The quality is a little rough but good enough to appreciate this blast from the past. In addition to the great racing, there’s a glimpse of the nighttime qualifying from the original April 1981 event.
