Funny Car Chaos, the unique Funny Car-only format created by Chris Graves, has announced its 2024 schedule of events. The grassroots Funny Car series, which features diverse combinations ranging from supercharged engines on nitromethane to turbocharged on methanol, has emerged as a top drag racing entertainment venue. The bottom line is if the body lifts up and the car passes safety protocols, there’s a place for it to race. This season, Spell Paving Funny Car Chaos will present nine events, eight of which are championship points-earning events.
The season opens in April with the fourth annual Funny Car Classic at the Texas Motorplex, located outside of Dallas. This event, which has attracted as many as 64 entries in the past, will be partnered with sister series DMP Awnings Nitro Chaos on April 4-6, 2024, to bring more than enough nitro entertainment, including a 32-car feature field.
Two weeks later, the tour heads to State Capitol Raceway in Baton Rouge, La., for the 3rd annual Laris Motorsports Insurance Chaos Cajun Nationals. The series then returns to Texas in May at Penwell Knights Raceway for the longest-running event on the tour, the sixth West Texas Nationals, which runs during the Cinco de Mayo.
The tour then heads to the Midwest again with the Nitro Chos Series for the 2nd annual Chaos in the Cornfield event at Eddyville Raceway, May 24-26.
During Father’s Day weekend, the tour hits the halfway mark with the inaugural Twistedn Shifterz and 360 Steel Summer Nationals at historic Cordova Raceway in Cordova, Illinois.
On July 20th, Nebraska’s Kearney Raceway Park will host the Funny Car Chaos Summer Showdown, an exhibition invitational event featuring Chicago-style match races. The action will then return to New Mexico’s Albuquerque Dragway on July 27th and 28th, marking a crucial point in the points chase toward the championship.
Enthusiasts on the East Coast will have the privilege of witnessing the return of CHAOS to Maryland International Raceway on August 23rd and 24th, although this event will be a non-points exhibition showcasing numerous East Coast funny car teams and more.
Finally, the Funny Car Chaos Championship Finals will be held on August 30th – 31st at Mo-Kan Dragway, just outside Joplin, Missouri, where the 2024 FCC Champion will be crowned.
In addition to announcing the schedule, Funny Car Chaos highlights some notable achievements from the 2023 season. The series welcomed its 200th different participant, underlining the immense variety and excitement of funny car racing. Moreover, the upcoming season will mark the milestone of the 50th Funny Car Chaos event, to be held at Penwell Knights Raceway in Odessa, Texas.
Funny Car Chaos credits its success to its unique run whatcha’ brung format, which qualifies participants into three eight-car fields, each providing equal points-earning opportunities.
Funny Car Chaos brings a solid sponsorship program, including Spell Paving Services, Performance Motorcoaches RV & Marine, and Excel Drywall Racing.
