The NHRA announced progress on building plans at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, including updates on the new Wally Parks Tower and renovated suites. This initiative is part of a multi-year project aimed at enhancing the facility.

Construction on the new three-story Wally Parks Tower is underway, with the steel framework completed and concrete pours in progress. The tower will house race control, a media center, television broadcasting capabilities, and three suites on the top floor.

Enclosure of the structure is expected in the coming weeks, with the canopy on the observation deck slated to be installed next month. This observation deck will feature an event space capable of accommodating up to 500 people.

The state-of-the-art tower will also include dedicated bathrooms, a staircase, and an elevator. The facility is on track for completion by mid-summer, ahead of the 71st annual Cornwell Quality Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals scheduled for August 27 to September 1.

“Every day, we continue to make big leaps, so it’s a very exciting time,” said NHRA Vice President of Track Management and Operations Kasey Coler. “Garmong Construction has done a great job keeping us on track and working with subcontractors.”

Additionally, a significant renovation of the eight suites above the west side grandstands is currently in progress. Each suite is set to receive a full remodel, and new elevators will be installed.

A major drainage and ditch alignment project is planned for 2025, aimed at improving the facility’s infrastructure. This project will create a new entrance on the west side of the track and move fan parking to that location.

Plans for a community open house before the Cornwell Quality Tools U.S. Nationals will be announced in the coming months.

“We’re hitting these great milestones heading into 2025,” Coler said. “This progress is a huge step for the future of this incredible facility.”
