The “No. 1 Clawifier Award presented by NAPA” will debut at the 12th annual NHRA New England Nationals on Friday, May 30, enhancing the nighttime atmosphere with local flair. The award will feature lobster dinners for the No. 1 qualifiers in Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Pro Stock during the second qualifying session.
The qualifying session is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. ET at New England Dragway. Drivers who earn the No. 1 qualifier position will sit in a special chair made of lobster pots until displaced or awarded the Clawifier title, which includes a large lobster.
Fans can watch the action live and for free on NHRA’s Facebook, YouTube, and NHRA.tv channels. The event will culminate with a New England Nationals lobster pot buoy trophy alongside the Wally trophy for winners on Sunday.
New England Dragway has been a fan favorite for more than a decade, showcasing Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Pro Stock stars. Following Friday’s qualifying, the Mission ##2Fast2Tasty Challenge will take place during the last two qualifying rounds on Saturday, leading into Sunday eliminations.
Last year’s sold-out event saw John Force (Funny Car), Doug Kalitta (Top Fuel), and Troy Coughlin Jr. (Pro Stock) capture race titles. The eliminations will air on FOX on Sunday, June 1, at 6 p.m. ET.
