In the end, nothing beats perfection.
Top Alcohol Funny Car driver Sean Bellemeur celebrated a flawless season, capturing the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Top Alcohol Funny Car Championship behind the wheel of the Bartone Brothers entry. The team achieved a perfect point total of 850, with ten races won at the maximum score of 85 points each.
The season concluded with their seventh national win at Pomona, where they triumphed at the Ford Performance NHRA Fall Nationals, delayed from earlier at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Season highlights include victories at The Big Go in Indianapolis and a commanding performance at the NHRA Fall Nationals Stampede of Speed weekend in Texas.
Bellemeur’s 2024 wins enhance his impressive resume, bringing his total to 27 regional wins and 43 national victories, marking his fourth Top Alcohol Funny Car Championship. Bellemeur noted, “To my knowledge, the feat of a perfect season has only been accomplished three other times in Top Alcohol Funny Car.”
He also reflected on the team’s consistent performance, stating, “You really can’t ask for more from the performance of the car and team this year.” Bellemeur emphasized his goal to improve his driving after setbacks in 2023, which added significance to their success this year.
Team owner Tony Bartone expressed his pride in the season, calling it one of the best in his career. “What a season,” Bartone said. “To have a perfect season, one of three in the history of the category, is special.”
The team secured victories at key events, including the NHRA 4-Wide Nationals at both Las Vegas and zMAX Dragway and the 70th TOYOTA NHRA U.S. Nationals. They also won the JEGS Allstars at Texas Motorplex, along with several regional titles.
