The Southeast Gassers Association will be highlighted on the Discovery Channel’s reality series Moonshiners on Tuesday, January 28, at 8 PM EST. Cast member Josh Owens is featured while competing at Knoxville Dragway, showcasing the nostalgia drag racing series.

Owens, who has participated in the Southeast Gassers Association since 2017, shared his enthusiasm for the sport. “The thing I like the most about the Southeast Gassers… you gotta’ drive the car,” he said.

In the upcoming episode, viewers will get a behind-the-scenes look at Owens’ visit to Knoxville Dragway. It marks a significant return to competition for Owens, who faced a life-threatening motorcycle crash at Daytona International Speedway in March 2023.

The episode promotional narration states, “How does a moonshiner recover from a crash? By racing again!” Owens will compete in the B/Gas category driving his 1964 Chevy II, named “Carolina Shiner.”

Owens will face off against Adam Lowhorn, who drives a Ford Falcon gasser known as the “Rodslinger.” Known for his long burnouts and impressive wheelstands, Lowhorn’s performance will add excitement to the qualifying rounds.

Fans can tune in to see Owens in action on January 28 at 8 PM EST on the Discovery Channel. For round-by-round coverage and results from Knoxville and other SEGA events in 2024, viewers are encouraged to visit the Southeast Gassers Association YouTube channel.
