Drag racers will head to Spokane County Raceway this weekend for the inaugural Nitro Jam Nationals presented by Good Vibrations event. This will mark the International Hot Rod Association’s (IHRA) first major event in the northwest and it will mark the first Nitro Jam appearance of the Pro Alcohol Funny Cars and Blown Alcohol Thunder categories this season.

The professional classes include Nitro Harley, AMSOIL Nitro Funny Cars presented by Aeromotive, Jet Dragster competition and the Pro Alcohol Funny Car class and Blown Alcohol Thunder. The Summit Sportsman classes will be out in full force as they will race in conjunction with the professional classes on July 10 – 11 and compete as a stand-alone event on Sunday, July 12.

Spectators and racers at Spokane County Raceway could witness one of the largest Funny Car fields ever seen on the West Coast this weekend as there are over 25 preliminary entries for the Nitro Jam Nationals presented by Good Vibrations. In addition, the unique Blown Alcohol Thunder category will make their presence known. The special class is made up of blown alcohol dragsters and altereds and is ran off of a 6.75 “target’ index class. It consists of Chicago-style qualifying with the two closest to the 6.75 index retuning to the elimination round.

“We have an exciting line-up of entertainment and competition scheduled for the Nitro Jam Nationals presented by Good Vibrations in Spokane,” said Scott Gardner, President of IHRA Motorsports. “There’s a real possibility of the event having the largest Funny Car count on the West Coast and the racing action is going to be nonstop. We can’t wait to introduce the northwest to Nitro Jam drag racing.”
