Iconic Top Fuel Motorcycle racer Larry “Spiderman” McBride suffered a crash in the first round of the IHRA Triple Crown race at Darana Raceway in Hebron, located outside of Columbus, Ohio. He had just completed a 3.82-second eighth mile run that beat Jaska Salakari in the first round.

As McBride approached the finish line, it appeared his motorcycle hit a bump, knocking his hand loose from the bars. McBride was blown off the bike, where he slid to a stop in the shutdown area. His bike traveled on through the shutdown area and into the sandtrap.

McBride appeared to make a side glance off the wall as he slid to a stop. He rose to his feet afterward with no apparent injuries, save for some visible road rash.

Sources close to the team confirmed McBride did go to a local hospital for further evaluation.
