UPDATED FINAL FOR NEW ENGLAND NATIONALS 

Jack Beckman also won on Friday in the Epping Funny Car final round, while Pruett, Matt Hagan (Funny Car), Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) and Gaige Herrera (Pro Stock Motorcycle) are the provisional No. 1 qualifiers in Bristol for the Super Grip NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at the ninth of 20 races during the 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season.

Pruett went 3.794-seconds at 332.43 mph in her 12,000-horsepower Dodge//SRT dragster, slipping past Langdon’s 3.852 at 328.54. It is Pruett’s 13th career victory and first since returning to the sport this season. Pruett stepped out of the seat after the 2023 season to start a family with her husband, Tony Stewart, coming back to the Top Fuel ranks in 2026.

SUNDAY FINAL – GLENN WINS IN EPPING AS NHRA NITRO FINALS MOVE TO BRISTOL

When it comes to the NHRA New England Nationals, Mother Nature has amassed a record most Hall of Fame drivers would envy.

On Sunday, though, the old girl added another win to the ledger, washing out the Top Fuel and Funny Car finals and forcing NHRA officials to move both championship rounds nearly 900 miles south to Bristol (TN) Dragway.

The rain arrived before the Epping, N.H., track could crown winners in Top Fuel and Funny Car. Shawn Langdon and Leah Pruett will settle the Top Fuel title Friday at Bristol, while John Force Racing teammates Jordan Vandergriff and Jack Beckman will race for the Funny Car trophy.

Before the skies finally closed for business, Dallas Glenn made sure at least one professional trophy left Epping with an owner. The reigning Pro Stock world champion defeated Matt Hartford in the final round to score his third victory of the season and his first career win at New England Dragway. The victory strengthened his hold on the points lead and marked the 24th national event win of his career.

“Dave [Connolly, crew chief] said the track was going to run better if it held and he was going to be aggressive. I hit the tree pretty good the round before, so I left everything alone. The car felt great, and we just kept picking away at it all day, making it a little better every run,” Glenn said.

Glenn entered eliminations from the fifth qualifying position and steadily improved throughout the day. By the final round, both the driver and the KB Titan Racing Chevrolet Camaro had found the combination needed to win.

His biggest challenge came in the semifinals against No. 1 qualifier and teammate Greg Anderson. Glenn used a .011-second reaction time to score a holeshot victory and advance to the final round.

Glenn left with a .002 reaction time and drove to a 6.543-second pass at 209.39 mph in his RAD Torque Systems Chevrolet Camaro. Hartford was quick at 6.550, 209.92, but Glenn’s advantage at the tree proved decisive.

“When I got out of the car, I asked, ‘Was I at least double-oh something?’ I had no idea it was .002,” Glenn said. “I knew Matt was going to be fast, so I knew I needed to get enough on the tree to get around him. Historically, this hasn’t been one of my better tracks, but Dave and the team kept working on the car and we found enough to get the job done.

“Phoenix was a track I’d never won at until this year. I’d never won here until today. Now we’re heading to Bristol, another place I haven’t won yet. Hopefully, we can keep checking them off the list.”

Hartford advanced to his third final round of the season and the 24th of his career with victories over Deric Kramer, Eric Latino, and Greg Stanfield.

Glenn’s victory expanded his lead over Anderson to 39 points heading into Bristol.

While Pro Stock completed its race day, the nitro categories were left with unfinished business.

Langdon will take a three-race winning streak into Friday’s Bristol Top Fuel final. The points leader advanced with victories over Clay Millican and teammate Doug Kalitta.

Pruett earned her place in the final by defeating Scott Farley, rookie Maddi Gordon, and Billy Torrence. The matchup gives Bristol an unexpected bonus attraction before qualifying begins for next weekend’s Thunder Valley Nationals.

Funny Car’s delayed final guarantees a victory celebration for John Force Racing.

Vandergriff continued his breakout season by defeating Jeff Arend, Chad Green, and J.R. Todd to reach the final round. The No. 1 qualifier will be seeking another milestone victory in his first full season with the powerhouse organization.

Beckman advanced to the final with wins over Phil Burkhart, Matt Hagan, and Ron Capps. The veteran now stands between Vandergriff and another breakthrough moment.

SATURDAY QUALIFYING – VANDERGRIFF GETS FIRST CAREER NO. 1 QUALIFIER, LANGDON, ANDERSON TOP NHRA NEW ENGLAND NATIONALS

Jordan Vandergriff arrived at New England Dragway with eight Funny Car races on his resume. He’ll head into Sunday’s eliminations from the top spot after earning the first No. 1 qualifier of his career Saturday at the NHRA New England Nationals.

Joining Vandergriff atop their respective qualifying ladders were Shawn Langdon [Top Fuel] and Greg Anderson [Pro Stock]. Vandergriff, Doug Kalitta [Top Fuel] and Anderson added Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge victories Saturday.

Vandergriff’s 3.913, 323.58 run in the Cornwell Tools Chevrolet SS moved him past teammates Alexis DeJoria and Jack Beckman in the final qualifying session. The run secured John Force Racing the first three spots on the Funny Car ladder.

DeJoria held the provisional No. 1 position after Friday’s sessions. Beckman took the spot away in the final qualifying round – but only until Vandergriff countered with the quickest Funny Car run of the weekend.

Looking for his second national event victory of the season, Vandergriff will open eliminations against Jeff Arend.

“Right now, we’re the best three Funny Cars on the property,” said Vandergriff. “Jack Beckman has helped me a lot with driving, and Alexis DeJoria has helped me with handling the emotions. Having teammates like that is huge. To be eight races into my Funny Car career with two Mission wins, a Wally, and now a No. 1 qualifier – it’s pretty incredible.”

Beckman qualified second at 3.921, 327.35, with DeJoria third at 3.929, 312.42.

Langdon came to Epping with three straight victories and four wins in the last six races. He’ll start Sunday from the No. 1 position for the second consecutive event.

His first run Friday of 3.77 set the early pace, and he bettered that in the night session with a 3.709, 334.98 in the Kalitta Air dragster.

“The focus is getting everything back to normal and going rounds,” Langdon said. “The main thing is outrunning the winner of the 8-9 matchup and keeping lane choice for the second round. The great thing about this team is that if Doug wins, we win. If I win, we win. We have two really good race cars and we’re all pulling in the same direction.

“We learned something from that run and that’s valuable. We’ll take the information, come back tomorrow, and try to put ourselves in a position to win the race.”

Leah Pruett qualified second at 3.712, 335.73, with Josh Hart third at 3.724, 337.92.

Kalitta added another Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge victory to the Kalitta Motorsports total Saturday. He defeated Langdon in the final round with a 3.776, 333.82. Kalitta and Langdon have combined to win five of the six Mission Challenge races contested this season.

“We missed the run last night in the money round, but we recovered really well today. We got down the track in the first session and then stayed hooked up in that final session when it got pretty tricky,” Kalitta said.

“The Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge is a great deal for the fans. It’s a great idea, and Shawn and I have both been fortunate enough to win a few of them. It’s definitely nice to come away with a win.

“The Mission race adds something extra. It raises the intensity and gives you another opportunity to practice under real race conditions.”

Greg Anderson ended Saturday with two trophies and the quickest Pro Stock car on the grounds. The six-time champion earned his fifth No. 1 qualifier of the season and won the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge.

Anderson’s Friday pass of 6.508, 210.67, remained untouched through Saturday’s final qualifying session. He wrapped up his duties Saturday by defeating Troy Coughlin Jr. in the final round of the Mission Challenge race, marking his second victory in the specialty event this season.

“I did not do a great job as a driver, but I think I did a good job with the shifting. The racecar bailed me out today,” Anderson said. “You can’t win without some good luck. It doesn’t matter how good your car runs or how well you drive, you have to have some fortunate breaks.

“I believe I’ve had the fastest car all year long and it’s bailed me out a lot of times. Sometimes you win by your driving, sometimes you win by horsepower. Today, horsepower got the job done. We’ve got some homework to do before tomorrow. I feel like I have the racecar that can win tomorrow. We just need to figure out a couple of things.”

Matt Latino qualified second with a 6.525, 210.77, and Eric Latino was third with a 6.534, 210.57.

For the second consecutive Saturday, NHRA racing drew a sellout crowd. Fans jammed into New England Dragway just as they had a week ago at the Potomac Nationals in Maryland. Saturday’s Epping crowd represented the fifth in NHRA’s 75th anniversary season. The season-opening Gatornationals and both weekend days at South Georgia Motorsports Park also reached capacity.

“New England Dragway fans are known for being one of the best on the NHRA circuit, and we couldn’t agree more,” said New England Dragway president Paul Lorenti. “To see a sold-out Saturday crowd during our 60th season and NHRA’s 75th anniversary is truly special.

“Thank you to our fans, racers, teams, sponsors and staff for making the NHRA New England Nationals such an exciting weekend. We’re proud to host our 13th NHRA national event and even prouder to call New England home.”

NHRA officials also announced an earlier start for Sunday’s eliminations because of concerns about the weather forecast. Spectator gates open at 8 a.m. First round for Top Fuel is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. EDT, followed by the Funny Car and Pro Stock categories.

#2FAST2TASTY – VANDERGRIFF GETS ANOTHER MISSION WIN, JOINING KALITTA AND ANDERSON AS MULTI-WINNERS

Jordan Vandergriff has spent most of 2026 proving he belongs. On Saturday at New England Dragway, he proved he can win, securing his first career No. 1 qualifier and a Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge victory in front of a sellout crowd at the NHRA New England Nationals.

Joining Vandergriff in Saturday’s winner’s circle were Doug Kalitta (Top Fuel) and Greg Anderson (Pro Stock), who also claimed Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge victories at the Epping, N.H., track.

For months, Vandergriff, the Cornwell Tools Chevrolet driver, has shown flashes of the talent that made him one of drag racing’s most anticipated Funny Car prospects. Saturday delivered the first major payoff.

Vandergriff defeated points leader Ron Capps in the final round of the specialty event, running 3.913 seconds at 323.58 mph to beat Capps’ 3.953, 328.14. The performance also secured the top qualifying position heading into Sunday’s eliminations.

The accomplishment continued a banner weekend for John Force Racing, which locked down the top three qualifying positions in Funny Car. At a time when every round carries championship implications, the organization once again demonstrated its depth.

“Right when I crossed the finish line and the parachutes hit, I thought, ‘God, that felt quick.’ To get the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge win and the No. 1 qualifier in the same day is unbelievable,” Vandergriff said.

“I never thought I was going to get one of these No. 1 qualifier hats, but now I’ve got one. We’re one, two, and three [in qualifying]. That’s a testament to John Force, what he’s built, the equipment he has, and the people he has working for him.”

For Vandergriff, the No. 1 slot arrives at a point in the season where confidence and experience are beginning to merge.

While Vandergriff celebrated a career milestone in Funny Car, the familiar battle between Doug Kalitta and Shawn Langdon continued to characterize the Top Fuel category. The two Kalitta Motorsports teammates have turned the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge into their own private rivalry.

Kalitta defeated Langdon in the final round with a run of 3.776, 333.82, in his Mac Tools dragster as his opponent smoked the tires. The victory marked his third Challenge win of the season.

Together, Kalitta and Langdon have captured five of the six Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge events this year. Their dominance mirrors what they accomplished a season ago and has become one of the most consistent storylines in Top Fuel competition.

If Kalitta’s victory represented business as usual in Top Fuel, Greg Anderson’s performance served as another reminder that the veteran racer remains a weekly threat in Pro Stock. Experience continues to matter in a category where races are often decided by thousandths of a second.

Anderson claimed his second Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge victory of the season with a 6.545, 209.17 run in his HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro. He tracked down Troy Coughlin Jr. despite surrendering a sizable advantage of .044 seconds at the starting line.

The win also complemented Anderson’s No. 1 qualifying effort and positioned him for a potential weekend sweep.

Coughlin left first and briefly held the advantage, but Anderson’s car did what Anderson’s cars have done for decades — pull hard through the finish line and let the scoreboard settle the argument.

FRIDAY QUALIFYING – LANGDON, DEJORIA, AND ANDERSON SET FRIDAY’S STANDARD AT NHRA NEW ENGLAND NATIONALS

Shawn Langdon arrived at New England Dragway riding a championship-caliber hot streak. By the end of Friday night’s action, he left little doubt that the rest of the Top Fuel field is chasing a team operating at full stride.

Langdon powered his Kalitta Air dragster to a 3.709-second pass at 334.98 mph under the lights to secure the provisional No. 1 qualifying position at the NHRA New England Nationals. The run also earned him the No. 1 Clawifier Award presented by NAPA.

Joining Langdon atop the qualifying sheets were Alexis DeJoria in Funny Car and Greg Anderson in Pro Stock. All three drivers used the cooler evening conditions to deliver the quickest performances of the opening day at the eighth stop of the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season.

For Langdon, the performance was another chapter in what has become one of the strongest stretches of his career. The 2013 NHRA champion has won three races in a row – South Georgia, Joliet and Budds Creek – and four of the last six events, establishing himself as the driver every contender must now measure against.

“It’s a great feeling. These guys have worked so hard the last couple of years and it’s nice to finally see the dividends of all that hard work show up on the scoreboard,” Langdon said.

“I used to be a fan of those teams where you knew Friday night they were going to throw down. Now that’s our story, and that’s a pretty cool feeling.”

Momentum alone doesn’t create performances like the one Langdon delivered Friday night. Execution remains the difference, and Kalitta Motorsports has found plenty of it since the season turned toward spring.

Crew chief Brian Husen “is the opposite of complacent. He’s always pushing, always looking for the next thing, always trying to be better,” Langdon said. “I feel like that mindset is across the entire team right now. There’s really good chemistry going on. We did a really good job adapting to the conditions today, and then with the night run, we knew we had to step on it.”

Leah Pruett sits second after posting a 3.712-second run, while Josh Hart currently occupies third with a 3.724 at 337.92.

In Funny Car, Alexis DeJoria delivered one of the most significant runs of her recent resurgence. Her 3.929 at 312.42 mph in the Bandero Café Chevrolet SS placed her atop the field and positioned her for a first No. 1 qualifier award since Bristol in 2021.

The performance continued a steady climb for the veteran, who has shown flashes of championship muscle in her first season as part of the John Force Racing stable. Friday provided tangible proof that the pieces may finally be coming together.

“Right now, we’re No. 1 and that’s all that matters. I got to sit in the lobster chair tonight, and we’re sitting No. 1. Our team really needed that,” DeJoria said.

“We’ve come so close to so many things and just missed them. Tonight, everything paid off.”

The success extended beyond DeJoria’s lane. John Force Racing placed its three entries among the top four positions entering Saturday.

“We’ve worked really hard to build a consistent race car and now we’re starting to take that next step,” DeJoria said. “We’re one, two and four. That’s a pretty good night” for JFR.

Jordan Vandergriff sits second with a 3.932-second effort, while two-time reigning champion Austin Prock, fresh off last weekend’s victory in Maryland, is third after running 3.950, 328.14.

If consistency is defining Langdon’s season, dominance continues to describe Greg Anderson’s. The defending New England event winner laid down a 6.508-second pass at 210.67 mph to take the provisional No. 1 position in Pro Stock.

The run places Anderson in position for his fifth No. 1 qualifier of the season and the 145th of his certain Hall of Fame career. It also strengthens his pursuit of KB Titan Racing teammate Dallas Glenn in the championship standings.

“We won Friday and we won the lobster, so that’s about as good as you can possibly ask for today. We checked all the boxes and brought them all home,” Anderson said.

“If you miss on that Friday night run, tomorrow is going to be a struggle. It’s going to be a hard challenge for anybody to catch that number. We’re going to go out there tomorrow and try to get some more bonus points, but I think we’re looking pretty good.”

Anderson has long considered New England Dragway one of the premier stops for Pro Stock racers. Friday’s crowd only reinforced that belief.

“Up and down the East Coast, people really appreciate Pro Stock, and that makes you want to show off for them and prove why they love the class,” Anderson said.

“We’re very fortunate to have tracks like this and Maryland on the schedule. The fans here understand and appreciate Pro Stock racing.”

One of the biggest stories in Pro Stock continues to be Matt Latino, who maintained his breakout campaign by qualifying second with a 6.525, 210.77. His father, Eric Latino, followed closely in third at 6.534, 210.57, giving the family operation two cars in the top three entering Saturday’s final qualifying sessions.

NHRA announced an earlier start for Saturday qualifying. The third round of qualifying is now set for 11:30 a.m. EDT, starting with Top Fuel and Funny Car, followed by Pro Stock at 12:30 p.m. The final round of qualifying is slated for 2 p.m. with Top Fuel and Funny Car, with Pro Stock at 3 p.m.

Racing in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series will begin at 9:30 a.m. EDT on Saturday. Gates will open at 8 a.m.

FRIDAY SPORTSMAN – CARNASCIALE, CAGNAZZI, MONAHAN, CHRISTOPHER AND KENNY LEAD ROUTE 66 NATIONALS QUALIFYING

Joe Carnasciale, Victor Cagnazzi, Gene Monahan, Dan Christopher and Al Kenny claimed the top qualifying positions Friday as Sportsman competition concluded at the NHRA Route 66 Nationals.

The final qualifying sessions established the fields in Competition Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Top Sportsman and Top Dragster as racers prepared for weekend eliminations.

Carnasciale, of Ashaway, R.I., led Competition Eliminator with an 8.812-second run in his I/SM Chevrolet Cavalier, finishing .668-second under the class index. Monty Bogan of Boiling Springs, S.C., qualified second at 8.330 seconds and .650 under, while Kenneth Voight of Bridgeport, Conn., secured the third spot at .567 under.

Peter D’Agnolo of Rochester, N.Y., was fourth with an 8.422-second effort, and Todd Logan of Kingston, Mass., rounded out the top five after running .535 under the A/EA index in his Bantam roadster.

In Super Stock, Mooresville, N.C., racer Victor Cagnazzi earned the No. 1 qualifying position with a 9.167-second pass in his 2018 Camaro, running 1.033 seconds under the FSS/F index. Jay Bruneau of Bristol, Conn., followed in second at .916 under, while Bryan Worner of Duncannon, Pa., was third at .871 under.

Leonard Williams of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and Marc LaBrecque of South Deerfield, Mass., completed the top five qualifiers.

Stock Eliminator was topped by Gene Monahan of Brockton, Mass., whose 1988 Firebird posted an 11.555-second run, 1.095 seconds under the K/SA index. Louis Gill of Quebec qualified second at 1.069 under, while Nicholas Barsamian of West Boylston, Mass., was third at 1.046 under.

Ralph Porpora and Cagnazzi rounded out the top five in a field separated by little more than a tenth of a second under the index.

Dan Christopher of Raymond, N.H., led Top Sportsman qualifying with a 6.723-second pass at 205.98 mph in his Cobalt. Carl Juliano qualified second with a 6.908, while Ben Schlafman was third at 6.962 seconds.

Cody Cook and Michel Bastien completed the top five heading into eliminations.

In Top Dragster, Jupiter, Fla., racer Al Kenny claimed the top spot with a 6.157-second run at 220.37 mph. Edward Fatscher qualified second at 6.312 seconds, while Bob Vojtila secured the third position with a 6.405.

Val Di Genova and Jessica Eastburn completed the top five qualifiers as Sportsman eliminations moved into the weekend schedule.

2026 NHRA NEW ENGLAND NATIONALS – EVENT RESULTS

UPDATED FINAL FOR NEW ENGLAND NATIONALS 

Jack Beckman also won on Friday in the Epping Funny Car final round, while Pruett, Matt Hagan (Funny Car), Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) and Gaige Herrera (Pro Stock Motorcycle) are the provisional No. 1 qualifiers in Bristol for the Super Grip NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at the ninth of 20 races during the 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season.

Pruett went 3.794-seconds at 332.43 mph in her 12,000-horsepower Dodge//SRT dragster, slipping past Langdon’s 3.852 at 328.54. It is Pruett’s 13th career victory and first since returning to the sport this season. Pruett stepped out of the seat after the 2023 season to start a family with her husband, Tony Stewart, coming back to the Top Fuel ranks in 2026.

SUNDAY FINAL – GLENN WINS IN EPPING AS NHRA NITRO FINALS MOVE TO BRISTOL

When it comes to the NHRA New England Nationals, Mother Nature has amassed a record most Hall of Fame drivers would envy.

On Sunday, though, the old girl added another win to the ledger, washing out the Top Fuel and Funny Car finals and forcing NHRA officials to move both championship rounds nearly 900 miles south to Bristol (TN) Dragway.

The rain arrived before the Epping, N.H., track could crown winners in Top Fuel and Funny Car. Shawn Langdon and Leah Pruett will settle the Top Fuel title Friday at Bristol, while John Force Racing teammates Jordan Vandergriff and Jack Beckman will race for the Funny Car trophy.

Before the skies finally closed for business, Dallas Glenn made sure at least one professional trophy left Epping with an owner. The reigning Pro Stock world champion defeated Matt Hartford in the final round to score his third victory of the season and his first career win at New England Dragway. The victory strengthened his hold on the points lead and marked the 24th national event win of his career.

“Dave [Connolly, crew chief] said the track was going to run better if it held and he was going to be aggressive. I hit the tree pretty good the round before, so I left everything alone. The car felt great, and we just kept picking away at it all day, making it a little better every run,” Glenn said.

Glenn entered eliminations from the fifth qualifying position and steadily improved throughout the day. By the final round, both the driver and the KB Titan Racing Chevrolet Camaro had found the combination needed to win.

His biggest challenge came in the semifinals against No. 1 qualifier and teammate Greg Anderson. Glenn used a .011-second reaction time to score a holeshot victory and advance to the final round.

Glenn left with a .002 reaction time and drove to a 6.543-second pass at 209.39 mph in his RAD Torque Systems Chevrolet Camaro. Hartford was quick at 6.550, 209.92, but Glenn’s advantage at the tree proved decisive.

“When I got out of the car, I asked, ‘Was I at least double-oh something?’ I had no idea it was .002,” Glenn said. “I knew Matt was going to be fast, so I knew I needed to get enough on the tree to get around him. Historically, this hasn’t been one of my better tracks, but Dave and the team kept working on the car and we found enough to get the job done.

“Phoenix was a track I’d never won at until this year. I’d never won here until today. Now we’re heading to Bristol, another place I haven’t won yet. Hopefully, we can keep checking them off the list.”

Hartford advanced to his third final round of the season and the 24th of his career with victories over Deric Kramer, Eric Latino, and Greg Stanfield.

Glenn’s victory expanded his lead over Anderson to 39 points heading into Bristol.

While Pro Stock completed its race day, the nitro categories were left with unfinished business.

Langdon will take a three-race winning streak into Friday’s Bristol Top Fuel final. The points leader advanced with victories over Clay Millican and teammate Doug Kalitta.

Pruett earned her place in the final by defeating Scott Farley, rookie Maddi Gordon, and Billy Torrence. The matchup gives Bristol an unexpected bonus attraction before qualifying begins for next weekend’s Thunder Valley Nationals.

Funny Car’s delayed final guarantees a victory celebration for John Force Racing.

Vandergriff continued his breakout season by defeating Jeff Arend, Chad Green, and J.R. Todd to reach the final round. The No. 1 qualifier will be seeking another milestone victory in his first full season with the powerhouse organization.

Beckman advanced to the final with wins over Phil Burkhart, Matt Hagan, and Ron Capps. The veteran now stands between Vandergriff and another breakthrough moment.

SATURDAY QUALIFYING – VANDERGRIFF GETS FIRST CAREER NO. 1 QUALIFIER, LANGDON, ANDERSON TOP NHRA NEW ENGLAND NATIONALS

Jordan Vandergriff arrived at New England Dragway with eight Funny Car races on his resume. He’ll head into Sunday’s eliminations from the top spot after earning the first No. 1 qualifier of his career Saturday at the NHRA New England Nationals.

Joining Vandergriff atop their respective qualifying ladders were Shawn Langdon [Top Fuel] and Greg Anderson [Pro Stock]. Vandergriff, Doug Kalitta [Top Fuel] and Anderson added Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge victories Saturday.

Vandergriff’s 3.913, 323.58 run in the Cornwell Tools Chevrolet SS moved him past teammates Alexis DeJoria and Jack Beckman in the final qualifying session. The run secured John Force Racing the first three spots on the Funny Car ladder.

DeJoria held the provisional No. 1 position after Friday’s sessions. Beckman took the spot away in the final qualifying round – but only until Vandergriff countered with the quickest Funny Car run of the weekend.

Looking for his second national event victory of the season, Vandergriff will open eliminations against Jeff Arend.

“Right now, we’re the best three Funny Cars on the property,” said Vandergriff. “Jack Beckman has helped me a lot with driving, and Alexis DeJoria has helped me with handling the emotions. Having teammates like that is huge. To be eight races into my Funny Car career with two Mission wins, a Wally, and now a No. 1 qualifier – it’s pretty incredible.”

Beckman qualified second at 3.921, 327.35, with DeJoria third at 3.929, 312.42.

Langdon came to Epping with three straight victories and four wins in the last six races. He’ll start Sunday from the No. 1 position for the second consecutive event.

His first run Friday of 3.77 set the early pace, and he bettered that in the night session with a 3.709, 334.98 in the Kalitta Air dragster.

“The focus is getting everything back to normal and going rounds,” Langdon said. “The main thing is outrunning the winner of the 8-9 matchup and keeping lane choice for the second round. The great thing about this team is that if Doug wins, we win. If I win, we win. We have two really good race cars and we’re all pulling in the same direction.

“We learned something from that run and that’s valuable. We’ll take the information, come back tomorrow, and try to put ourselves in a position to win the race.”

Leah Pruett qualified second at 3.712, 335.73, with Josh Hart third at 3.724, 337.92.

Kalitta added another Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge victory to the Kalitta Motorsports total Saturday. He defeated Langdon in the final round with a 3.776, 333.82. Kalitta and Langdon have combined to win five of the six Mission Challenge races contested this season.

“We missed the run last night in the money round, but we recovered really well today. We got down the track in the first session and then stayed hooked up in that final session when it got pretty tricky,” Kalitta said.

“The Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge is a great deal for the fans. It’s a great idea, and Shawn and I have both been fortunate enough to win a few of them. It’s definitely nice to come away with a win.

“The Mission race adds something extra. It raises the intensity and gives you another opportunity to practice under real race conditions.”

Greg Anderson ended Saturday with two trophies and the quickest Pro Stock car on the grounds. The six-time champion earned his fifth No. 1 qualifier of the season and won the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge.

Anderson’s Friday pass of 6.508, 210.67, remained untouched through Saturday’s final qualifying session. He wrapped up his duties Saturday by defeating Troy Coughlin Jr. in the final round of the Mission Challenge race, marking his second victory in the specialty event this season.

“I did not do a great job as a driver, but I think I did a good job with the shifting. The racecar bailed me out today,” Anderson said. “You can’t win without some good luck. It doesn’t matter how good your car runs or how well you drive, you have to have some fortunate breaks.

“I believe I’ve had the fastest car all year long and it’s bailed me out a lot of times. Sometimes you win by your driving, sometimes you win by horsepower. Today, horsepower got the job done. We’ve got some homework to do before tomorrow. I feel like I have the racecar that can win tomorrow. We just need to figure out a couple of things.”

Matt Latino qualified second with a 6.525, 210.77, and Eric Latino was third with a 6.534, 210.57.

For the second consecutive Saturday, NHRA racing drew a sellout crowd. Fans jammed into New England Dragway just as they had a week ago at the Potomac Nationals in Maryland. Saturday’s Epping crowd represented the fifth in NHRA’s 75th anniversary season. The season-opening Gatornationals and both weekend days at South Georgia Motorsports Park also reached capacity.

“New England Dragway fans are known for being one of the best on the NHRA circuit, and we couldn’t agree more,” said New England Dragway president Paul Lorenti. “To see a sold-out Saturday crowd during our 60th season and NHRA’s 75th anniversary is truly special.

“Thank you to our fans, racers, teams, sponsors and staff for making the NHRA New England Nationals such an exciting weekend. We’re proud to host our 13th NHRA national event and even prouder to call New England home.”

NHRA officials also announced an earlier start for Sunday’s eliminations because of concerns about the weather forecast. Spectator gates open at 8 a.m. First round for Top Fuel is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. EDT, followed by the Funny Car and Pro Stock categories.

#2FAST2TASTY – VANDERGRIFF GETS ANOTHER MISSION WIN, JOINING KALITTA AND ANDERSON AS MULTI-WINNERS

Jordan Vandergriff has spent most of 2026 proving he belongs. On Saturday at New England Dragway, he proved he can win, securing his first career No. 1 qualifier and a Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge victory in front of a sellout crowd at the NHRA New England Nationals.

Joining Vandergriff in Saturday’s winner’s circle were Doug Kalitta (Top Fuel) and Greg Anderson (Pro Stock), who also claimed Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge victories at the Epping, N.H., track.

For months, Vandergriff, the Cornwell Tools Chevrolet driver, has shown flashes of the talent that made him one of drag racing’s most anticipated Funny Car prospects. Saturday delivered the first major payoff.

Vandergriff defeated points leader Ron Capps in the final round of the specialty event, running 3.913 seconds at 323.58 mph to beat Capps’ 3.953, 328.14. The performance also secured the top qualifying position heading into Sunday’s eliminations.

The accomplishment continued a banner weekend for John Force Racing, which locked down the top three qualifying positions in Funny Car. At a time when every round carries championship implications, the organization once again demonstrated its depth.

“Right when I crossed the finish line and the parachutes hit, I thought, ‘God, that felt quick.’ To get the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge win and the No. 1 qualifier in the same day is unbelievable,” Vandergriff said.

“I never thought I was going to get one of these No. 1 qualifier hats, but now I’ve got one. We’re one, two, and three [in qualifying]. That’s a testament to John Force, what he’s built, the equipment he has, and the people he has working for him.”

For Vandergriff, the No. 1 slot arrives at a point in the season where confidence and experience are beginning to merge.

While Vandergriff celebrated a career milestone in Funny Car, the familiar battle between Doug Kalitta and Shawn Langdon continued to characterize the Top Fuel category. The two Kalitta Motorsports teammates have turned the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge into their own private rivalry.

Kalitta defeated Langdon in the final round with a run of 3.776, 333.82, in his Mac Tools dragster as his opponent smoked the tires. The victory marked his third Challenge win of the season.

Together, Kalitta and Langdon have captured five of the six Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge events this year. Their dominance mirrors what they accomplished a season ago and has become one of the most consistent storylines in Top Fuel competition.

If Kalitta’s victory represented business as usual in Top Fuel, Greg Anderson’s performance served as another reminder that the veteran racer remains a weekly threat in Pro Stock. Experience continues to matter in a category where races are often decided by thousandths of a second.

Anderson claimed his second Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge victory of the season with a 6.545, 209.17 run in his HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro. He tracked down Troy Coughlin Jr. despite surrendering a sizable advantage of .044 seconds at the starting line.

The win also complemented Anderson’s No. 1 qualifying effort and positioned him for a potential weekend sweep.

Coughlin left first and briefly held the advantage, but Anderson’s car did what Anderson’s cars have done for decades — pull hard through the finish line and let the scoreboard settle the argument.

FRIDAY QUALIFYING – LANGDON, DEJORIA, AND ANDERSON SET FRIDAY’S STANDARD AT NHRA NEW ENGLAND NATIONALS

Shawn Langdon arrived at New England Dragway riding a championship-caliber hot streak. By the end of Friday night’s action, he left little doubt that the rest of the Top Fuel field is chasing a team operating at full stride.

Langdon powered his Kalitta Air dragster to a 3.709-second pass at 334.98 mph under the lights to secure the provisional No. 1 qualifying position at the NHRA New England Nationals. The run also earned him the No. 1 Clawifier Award presented by NAPA.

Joining Langdon atop the qualifying sheets were Alexis DeJoria in Funny Car and Greg Anderson in Pro Stock. All three drivers used the cooler evening conditions to deliver the quickest performances of the opening day at the eighth stop of the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season.

For Langdon, the performance was another chapter in what has become one of the strongest stretches of his career. The 2013 NHRA champion has won three races in a row – South Georgia, Joliet and Budds Creek – and four of the last six events, establishing himself as the driver every contender must now measure against.

“It’s a great feeling. These guys have worked so hard the last couple of years and it’s nice to finally see the dividends of all that hard work show up on the scoreboard,” Langdon said.

“I used to be a fan of those teams where you knew Friday night they were going to throw down. Now that’s our story, and that’s a pretty cool feeling.”

Momentum alone doesn’t create performances like the one Langdon delivered Friday night. Execution remains the difference, and Kalitta Motorsports has found plenty of it since the season turned toward spring.

Crew chief Brian Husen “is the opposite of complacent. He’s always pushing, always looking for the next thing, always trying to be better,” Langdon said. “I feel like that mindset is across the entire team right now. There’s really good chemistry going on. We did a really good job adapting to the conditions today, and then with the night run, we knew we had to step on it.”

Leah Pruett sits second after posting a 3.712-second run, while Josh Hart currently occupies third with a 3.724 at 337.92.

In Funny Car, Alexis DeJoria delivered one of the most significant runs of her recent resurgence. Her 3.929 at 312.42 mph in the Bandero Café Chevrolet SS placed her atop the field and positioned her for a first No. 1 qualifier award since Bristol in 2021.

The performance continued a steady climb for the veteran, who has shown flashes of championship muscle in her first season as part of the John Force Racing stable. Friday provided tangible proof that the pieces may finally be coming together.

“Right now, we’re No. 1 and that’s all that matters. I got to sit in the lobster chair tonight, and we’re sitting No. 1. Our team really needed that,” DeJoria said.

“We’ve come so close to so many things and just missed them. Tonight, everything paid off.”

The success extended beyond DeJoria’s lane. John Force Racing placed its three entries among the top four positions entering Saturday.

“We’ve worked really hard to build a consistent race car and now we’re starting to take that next step,” DeJoria said. “We’re one, two and four. That’s a pretty good night” for JFR.

Jordan Vandergriff sits second with a 3.932-second effort, while two-time reigning champion Austin Prock, fresh off last weekend’s victory in Maryland, is third after running 3.950, 328.14.

If consistency is defining Langdon’s season, dominance continues to describe Greg Anderson’s. The defending New England event winner laid down a 6.508-second pass at 210.67 mph to take the provisional No. 1 position in Pro Stock.

The run places Anderson in position for his fifth No. 1 qualifier of the season and the 145th of his certain Hall of Fame career. It also strengthens his pursuit of KB Titan Racing teammate Dallas Glenn in the championship standings.

“We won Friday and we won the lobster, so that’s about as good as you can possibly ask for today. We checked all the boxes and brought them all home,” Anderson said.

“If you miss on that Friday night run, tomorrow is going to be a struggle. It’s going to be a hard challenge for anybody to catch that number. We’re going to go out there tomorrow and try to get some more bonus points, but I think we’re looking pretty good.”

Anderson has long considered New England Dragway one of the premier stops for Pro Stock racers. Friday’s crowd only reinforced that belief.

“Up and down the East Coast, people really appreciate Pro Stock, and that makes you want to show off for them and prove why they love the class,” Anderson said.

“We’re very fortunate to have tracks like this and Maryland on the schedule. The fans here understand and appreciate Pro Stock racing.”

One of the biggest stories in Pro Stock continues to be Matt Latino, who maintained his breakout campaign by qualifying second with a 6.525, 210.77. His father, Eric Latino, followed closely in third at 6.534, 210.57, giving the family operation two cars in the top three entering Saturday’s final qualifying sessions.

NHRA announced an earlier start for Saturday qualifying. The third round of qualifying is now set for 11:30 a.m. EDT, starting with Top Fuel and Funny Car, followed by Pro Stock at 12:30 p.m. The final round of qualifying is slated for 2 p.m. with Top Fuel and Funny Car, with Pro Stock at 3 p.m.

Racing in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series will begin at 9:30 a.m. EDT on Saturday. Gates will open at 8 a.m.

FRIDAY SPORTSMAN – CARNASCIALE, CAGNAZZI, MONAHAN, CHRISTOPHER AND KENNY LEAD ROUTE 66 NATIONALS QUALIFYING

Joe Carnasciale, Victor Cagnazzi, Gene Monahan, Dan Christopher and Al Kenny claimed the top qualifying positions Friday as Sportsman competition concluded at the NHRA Route 66 Nationals.

The final qualifying sessions established the fields in Competition Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Top Sportsman and Top Dragster as racers prepared for weekend eliminations.

Carnasciale, of Ashaway, R.I., led Competition Eliminator with an 8.812-second run in his I/SM Chevrolet Cavalier, finishing .668-second under the class index. Monty Bogan of Boiling Springs, S.C., qualified second at 8.330 seconds and .650 under, while Kenneth Voight of Bridgeport, Conn., secured the third spot at .567 under.

Peter D’Agnolo of Rochester, N.Y., was fourth with an 8.422-second effort, and Todd Logan of Kingston, Mass., rounded out the top five after running .535 under the A/EA index in his Bantam roadster.

In Super Stock, Mooresville, N.C., racer Victor Cagnazzi earned the No. 1 qualifying position with a 9.167-second pass in his 2018 Camaro, running 1.033 seconds under the FSS/F index. Jay Bruneau of Bristol, Conn., followed in second at .916 under, while Bryan Worner of Duncannon, Pa., was third at .871 under.

Leonard Williams of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and Marc LaBrecque of South Deerfield, Mass., completed the top five qualifiers.

Stock Eliminator was topped by Gene Monahan of Brockton, Mass., whose 1988 Firebird posted an 11.555-second run, 1.095 seconds under the K/SA index. Louis Gill of Quebec qualified second at 1.069 under, while Nicholas Barsamian of West Boylston, Mass., was third at 1.046 under.

Ralph Porpora and Cagnazzi rounded out the top five in a field separated by little more than a tenth of a second under the index.

Dan Christopher of Raymond, N.H., led Top Sportsman qualifying with a 6.723-second pass at 205.98 mph in his Cobalt. Carl Juliano qualified second with a 6.908, while Ben Schlafman was third at 6.962 seconds.

Cody Cook and Michel Bastien completed the top five heading into eliminations.

In Top Dragster, Jupiter, Fla., racer Al Kenny claimed the top spot with a 6.157-second run at 220.37 mph. Edward Fatscher qualified second at 6.312 seconds, while Bob Vojtila secured the third position with a 6.405.

Val Di Genova and Jessica Eastburn completed the top five qualifiers as Sportsman eliminations moved into the weekend schedule.
