Billy Torrence has raced at Texas Motorplex enough times to know what a home-track crowd expects. This weekend, he’ll try to give them something to cheer about while putting a familiar sponsor back in the spotlight.

Torrence will drive a CAPCO Contractors Top Fuel dragster carrying a special Red Line Oil paint scheme during the Texas NHRA FallNationals, Oct. 16-18. The black, silver and red design will be unveiled Friday during the opening qualifying session.

For the Torrence family, Red Line Oil isn’t a new name looking for exposure in Top Fuel. The company was part of the operation when Billy’s son, Steve Torrence, won four consecutive NHRA world championships from 2018 through 2021.

Four straight championships are difficult to come by in any professional category, particularly Top Fuel. The Torrence operation managed it while maintaining the family-owned identity that has long been part of its racing program.

Billy Torrence, who owns CAPCO Contractors, has spent years balancing his business responsibilities with driving a Top Fuel dragster. Racing at Texas Motorplex puts him in front of many of the same people who have supported his company and racing efforts.

“Texas Motorplex is our home track, and racing here in front of our family, friends and the people who support CAPCO always means a little more,” Torrence said. “Red Line Oil has been part of this team through four world championships, and we’re proud to carry their colors at the FallNationals. We want to give our hometown fans something to cheer about.”

The new paint scheme will feature two products from Red Line Oil’s automotive chemicals lineup, Complete Oil System Cleaner and Total Intake System Cleaner.

Complete Oil System Cleaner is formulated to remove sludge, gum, varnish and other contaminants from engine lubrication systems. Total Intake System Cleaner addresses carbon buildup in the intake system and upper engine, with both products intended to help maintain or restore performance when used as directed.

The products represent a different side of Red Line Oil’s business than the racing lubricants most motorsports fans associate with the company. The FallNationals gives the manufacturer an opportunity to put them in front of an audience already familiar with its involvement in drag racing.

“Our relationship with Torrence Racing is built on trust, performance and a shared commitment to winning,” said Kevin Karl, Red Line Oil marketing adviser. “Four consecutive Top Fuel world championships speak to what this partnership has accomplished. Having Billy showcase our Complete Oil System Cleaner and Total Intake System Cleaner at his home race is an exciting way to connect that racing legacy with products that help drivers maintain engine performance in their own vehicles.”

The Texas FallNationals is the fourth of six races in NHRA’s Countdown to the Championship, with the professional categories beginning qualifying Friday.

The team plans to reveal Torrence’s new colors at the starting line before his first qualifying attempt. Once the covers come off, the focus shifts to getting the CAPCO Contractors dragster down the racetrack.

For Torrence, there’s no better place to do it than Texas Motorplex.

“We want to give our hometown fans something to cheer about.”
