TOP DRAGSTER PACKAGE FROM SPITZER RACE CARS

new src 047Highly respected SFI builder Spitzer Race Cars has introduced a 2012 series chassis for the increasingly popular Top Dragster class that incorporates enhanced car features and options, plus attractive package pricing. Base price for the car, which includes a carbon fiber body and wing, is $14,950. It is built to SFI 2.5C specifications (6.00 to 7.50 quarter-mile elapsed times).

RAM INTRODUCES CORVETTE C4 CLUTCH

corvetteSince factory replacement clutches for1989-’96 C4 Corvettes no longer exist, Ram is introducing a new direct replacement dual-disc clutch-flywheel assembly.

The kit includes a hydraulic release bearing with all the fittings and hardware to complete the conversion. It connects directly to the factory master cylinder.

For those accustomed to the normal push-style clutch assembly, the unorthodox pull-style mechanism used in the C4 Corvette must have seemed most irregular. In the pull-style arrangement the release bearing was responsible for pulling the fingers back to disengage the clutch—the opposite effect of conventional clutches. This and further concerns over the original lightweight alloy rimmed cover assembly caused Ram to opt for the more pragmatic push-system approach. Thus a new Ram Force 9.5 and Force 10.5 range of clutches has been created. The smaller diameter model impels the engine to rev faster; the larger model transmits larger torque loadings.

Super Hold ServoPerformance of GM Powerglide® transmissions can now be improved with a new Super Hold servo assembly that provides 30% more apply area than the original servo, introduced by Sonnax Industries, leading supplier of innovative drivetrain components.
      
The larger apply area, created by a unique dual-piston design, increases band apply force at existing line pressure or allows for 20% to 30% line pressure reduction while maintaining the same apply force, freeing up horsepower. Designed for drag racing vehicles seeking positive trans-brake engagement, the Sonnax Super Hold servo reduces vehicle rocking and increases stability.

TREND'S NEW PISTON PIN

trendTrend Performance has unveiled its hardest and toughest piston pin to date.

Code named TP1 during its development, this new piston pin is not only exceedingly hard and extremely tough but also it is coated and less expensive than its rival: C300 (maraging steel).

Initially available for Top Fuel and Funny Cars, these new pins are currently offered in one diameter (1.156in) and in two lengths (3.300in and 3.400in). Other sizes will become available upon request.

BOLT-ON HORSEPOWER FOR 3rd & 4th GEN F-BODIES

66481-3qtr displayThird and early fourth generation GM F-Bodies are one of the best performance bargains on the market today, thanks to a well-sorted suspension setup, a plethora of aftermarket parts options, and venerable small block powerplants (of the TPI and LT1 variety) that respond well to basic bolt-on performance parts. Now Hedman, the industry leader in tubular exhaust manifold technology, has an assortment of hedders for these cars with a CARB E.O. number (D167-33), making them 50 state legal. This is bolt-on horsepower, Johnny law can't hassle you about.

One of the easiest ways to squeeze extra power out of your 1982-97 Camaro, Firebird or Trans-Am is with a set of high-flow hedders, but not all tubular exhaust manifolds are created equal. Hedman Hedders begin with 1 5/8-inch primaries and mild steel construction. Part numbers 66471 and 66481 provide Gen3 F-Body owners a couple of options depending on engine and chassis, and both are finished in a high-temperature ceramic coating that looks great and offers protection up to 1,400 degrees. Uncoated versions are also available.

Available in two package levels, the new Camaro Drag Race Suspension Kits have a lightweight design and feature front and rear shocks that are independently adjustable for both rebound and compression and can work with almost any vehicle combination.  Additionally, the shocks are adjustable for overall length, allowing for ride height changes without impacting spring preload or overall shock travel.  The shock valving and spring rates have been optimized for drag racing, and the spring rates are designed for a full weight vehicle.

VP INTRODUCES "C85" ETHANOL RACING FUEL

C85 4x5 300dpiVP Racing Fuels today introduced “C85” racing fuel, offering significant performance gains over conventional E85 according to Jim Kelly, VP’s Director of Racing Fuel Sales. “Conventional E85 gained some popularity because it was cheap and made some power, but it has a significant downside,” said Kelly. “In addition to requiring a costly E85 carburetor and completely revamped and upgraded fuel system, E85 is corrosive and very inconsistent.”

“When you don’t know if you’re getting 60% ethanol, 80% ethanol or something else, it’s extremely difficult to tune,” Kelly continued. “Many engine builders have cited up to a two-jet swing in their tune from one batch of E85 to the next. By contrast, C85 is blended with the same degree of care and precision as every other VP fuel, with a consistent proportion of ethanol and every other component in every drum. It takes all the guesswork out of tuning.”

“With VP’s focus on power, we’ve engineered C85 to make up to 4% more power and torque than conventional E85,” Kelly added. “In addition to these performance gains, C85’s higher quality pure components make it superior to E85 in terms of cooling effect, resistance to detonation and we’ve added corrosion inhibitors to fight the issues presented by ethanol.”
