02_27_2009_wagonThe more the Project White Wagon becomes a topic of conversation the more skeletons fall out of the closet. It appears to us that there was a lot more tothis lady than met the eye.

There are rumors the car pushed the rule book’s gray areas to the limits, including speculation the car had the front and rear axles moved forward like an FX car, a claim that Fulton chuckles over.

The car was so versatile that when it needed to bulk up, it could pack on the pounds and when it needed to slim down, it could do so with ease. During the course of a season, the original White Wagon could span from 2,800 pounds with a 262-inch small block to as robust as 3,900 to run in the G/Modified Production classification.

E-FORCE SUPERCHARGER SYSTEMS FOR 2008-10 C6 CORVETTES HIT THE STREETS

edelbrockEdelbrock is proud to announce the release of their new E-Force Supercharger kits for the C6 Corvette. The all new design pushes the stock LS3 engine up to an amazing 554 flywheel HP and 515 ft/lbs of torque (with stock fuel pump) or 599 flywheel HP and 547 ft/lbs of torque (with included high volume fuel pump). This supercharger incorporates the Eaton Twin Vortices Series (TVS) Gen VI rotor assembly, the same internals used on the new ZR-1 Corvette, as well as an air to water twin intercooler system and dual core heat exchanger. Torque has been optimized through the use of 12" long runners, while low speed fuel economy is retained through the use of an internal bypass valve to reduce parasitic loss. All of this technology fits under the stock hood without modification to the hood, hood liner or cowl.

These kits include all of the upgraded components needed to support the increased power output of the engine, including 52 lb/hr injectors, a high flow air intake system and a handheld programming module to update the ECU. They are designed to work with all OEM emissions equipment and a pending EO makes them 50 state street legal. The 554 HP kit (#1590) and 599 HP kit (#1591) are complete systems that include matching coil covers for a great under hood look, and are available with a 5 year, 100,000 mile warranty for worry-free operation.

Edelbrock also offers an E-Force supercharger competition kit #1592, which eliminates the injectors, programmer, and engine covers to provide only the core components needed to build up a competition level vehicle. The supercharger drive pulley is also deleted to allow the end user to select from four pulleys ranging in size from 2.75" to 3.50" in diameter, depending on the boost level desired.

AEROMOTIVE'S STACKABLE CARBURETED REGULATOR

Aeromotive’s new “Stackable Regulators” allow you to cleanly “stack” fuel pressure regulators together in order to create and control multiple pressures with a single fuel pump. The new “Stackable Regulator” is a clean, light-weight and expandable solution, ideal for nitrous engine combinations where unique pressures are desired for the carburetor and for each individual stage of nitrous.

No longer will sportsman and professional racers have to screw together heavy, ugly brass T’s and pipe fittings to create a so called “fuel log”. For the ultimate nitrous fuel system, it’s easy to combine Aeromotive’s Pro-Stock 2-port and 4-port regulators with the new Stackable Regulators, where all flow and pressure control is consolidated for a much cleaner, lighter package. RAM'S FORCE 10.5: A NEW RANGE OF STRAP-DRIVEN CLUTCHES FOR FORD MODULAR AND GM LS-SERIES ENGINES

12gRamForce10.5-CUlrDiaphragm type twin-disc clutch assemblies are vested with either “stands” or “straps” that secure the floater plate to the flywheel in relation to the sprung top clutch disc and the solid-hub bottom disc.

The issue with the stand arrangement is noise. The floater has a millimeter or two to move about on its (six) stands as the car is at idle with the clutch pedal depressed or when it is released to move the vehicle. Though not a concern with a racing application, it becomes an itch that can’t be scratched in a street-driven LS1, 2, 3, 6 or 7 or a Ford Modular 4.6L or 5.4L.

The RAM Force 10.5 incorporates an upper or “curved” strap that is the load-bearing strap for the pressure ring. The lower straight strap is the load-bearing strap for the floater (see accompanying close-up image). Both upper and lower straps are made of spring steel. This companion device totally eliminates the noise associated with stands.

Force 10.5 units use Ram’s 300-series steel-backed friction discs that feature an eight-spring hub assembly with urethane encapsulated springs for added durability as well as a marcel spring (a thin, wavy device) that helps eliminate the “go-or-no-go” tendency that accompanies most dual-disc clutches. A billet aluminum flywheel rounds out a package that weighs an average of 45 pounds.

All assemblies are 10.5-inch in diameter and are built to factory height dimensions. Original equipment hydraulic clutch systems are static and have no manual adjustment so the clutch and flywheel package must be the same height as the stock equipment. Installed heights are identical to OEM dimensions–no modifications necessary.

All 300-series discs are made from organic material for smooth engagement and are more than sufficient to deal with 900 horsepower. The springs in the disc are urethane-coated and have four times the compression rate as compared to uncoated springs. Clamping force is 2,400 pounds. Both sides of the steel floater plate are surface-ground to the same tolerance. (NOTE: The RAM 900-series discs are made from sintered metal and can hold up to 1,400 horsepower.)

A key feature of RAM aluminum flywheels is the steel insert that has enough mass to draw heat away from the clutch without distortion. RAM uses a 0.250-inch thick inset that is riveted in before the flywheel is surface ground to assure a parallel friction surface with no run-out, and enough material to adequately siphon off the heat while maintaining flatness over time. All RAM billet flywheels are SFI certified.

Identification for these quiet, twin-disc packages are as follows: All LS applications are 1 1/8-26 (PN 80-2100). There are four call-outs for the Ford Modular: 4.6 8-bolt 1 1/16-10 (PN 80-2200), 4.6 8-bolt 1 1/8-26 (PN 80-2220), 4.6 6-bolt 1 1/16-10 (PN 80-2260), and 4.6 6-bolt 1 1/8-26 (PN 80-2265). EASY VIEW SPARK PLUG INDEXING SOCKET

By indexing the sparkplugs, you ensure proper combustion evenly across the piston's top utilizing the entire area of the pistons surface. JIFFY-TITE™ QUICK-CONNECT FLUID FITTINGS ADOPT NEW EPDM SEALS

EPDM, a type of synthetic rubber, is compatible with brake fluid— making these new quick-connect fittings ideal for all hydraulic clutch systems, and especially useful for stock car racers. EPDM is also compatible with nitromethane, and these new connectors, all rated for 200 PSI, are now available in a variety of configurations for nitromethane fuel systems.

Fuel systems with AN aluminum threaded fittings, particularly those on racecars that are constantly being threaded and unthreaded, often leak eventually. Jiffy-tite eliminates threaded fittings and replaces them with quick-connect self-sealing fittings. The result, they insist, is no cross-threading, no over-tightening, no forgetting to tighten, no leaks, no plumbing issues and no unsightly wrench marks or scratches on the fittings. And they are connected and disconnected in seconds.

These unique connectors have a further advantage: they eliminate the number of excess fittings in most plumbing systems—the process is streamlined. Compared to conventional AN aluminum fittings, which extend to hundreds of part numbers for nipples and unions and reducers, Jiffy-tite’s solution is simple: one plug and one socket. Using this technique a -6 AN line, for example, can be reduced to a -3 AN line with just two fittings.
