NEW ARP ULTRA-TORQUE® FASTENER ASSEMBLY LUBRICANT

Following years of extensive R&D, the engineering team at ARP® has developed a revolutionary new high performance fastener assembly lubricant that is new_arp_1239superior to commonly used oil, moly and other lubes. ARP Ultra-Torque® allows builders to torque fasteners within 5% of their required preload on the first “pull,” virtually eliminating “preload scatter,” and ensures exacting fastener-to-fastener preload consistency.

Because of frictional inconsistencies with oil, moly, and other lubricants it takes multiple cycles of torquing the bolt, loosening it, and tightening it again to obtain the required preload or stretch. Typically, when a fastener is first tightened, friction is at its highest point and the preload value or stretch is low. As the fastener is cycled numerous times the friction decreases and the preload increases. This phenomenon is called “preload scatter.” Extensive testing has shown preload scatter to be as much as 20-40% on a new fastener, depending on the lubricant used. With ARP Ultra-Torque®, a fastener need only be torqued once to get within 5% of ideal preload—and remains consistent through all subsequent cycles (from race-prep machining through final assembly and subsequent rebuilds).

Moreover, given the inconsistencies of ordinary lubes, it is quite possible for adjacent head bolts or studs to have vastly different preloads. This “scatter” causes bore distortion, hampers piston ring seal, and leads to poor head gasket sealing. Preload differences in connecting rods and main caps can cause uneven bearing loading. It’s easy to see how ARP Ultra-Torque® can actually help you build a more powerful, reliable engine!

ARP Ultra-Torque® is packaged in various sizes.

INTRODUCING THE RACE Q SERIES FROM QUICK FUEL TECHNOLOGY

RQ_850_B2_pbQuick Fuel Technology (QFT) upped the bar again with its new line of all-aluminum Race Q Series carburetors that offer unique features not usually found on out-of-the-box race carburetors such as quick change jets, screw-in emulsion channel restrictins and a dual-flange throttle body that fits 4150 and 4500 flange manifolds with no adapter.  Race Q carbs range in size from 750 to 1050-cfm and feature a wide range of adjustment that help you, the racer, tune your carburetor promptly and effectively to optimize the power output of your racecars engine and improve your overall E/T!

The Race Q series carbs are based on the original Q series and now feature even more racer-friendly improvements.  The cast-aluminum lightweight main body and fuel bowls are tumble polished, which provide a bright, long lasting protective finish.  The dual inlet fuel bowls are equipped with quick-change ports that allow the racer to change the jets without the hassle of removing the fuel bowl.  The black anodized billet metering blocks are engineered with 5 emulsion channels with screw in restrictions to help optimize the air/fuel ratio. Changing these restrictions are as easy as changing jets and offer unsurpassed tuning ability throughout the RPM range.  The dual flange throttle body is also cut from billet and anodized black and allows the carb to mount on a 4150 or 4500-style intake manifold.

QFT designed the Race Q carbs for drag racing and include the correct jet extensions and notched floats.  Every Race Q carb is hand assembled and engine tested before shipping.  QFT includes a jet driver tool in every box.

WELD RACING LLC’S NEW RT-S FORGED ALUMINUM WHEELS

Muscular Style and Today’s Technology in One Wheel

74LB_18x10_RT-S_300_whiteWeld Racing, the racing wheel company with the most wins on its product year after year, introduced the 2010 RT-S line of forged aluminum wheels at the 2009 PRI Show in Orlando Florida. The nation’s largest performance and racing show was the perfect place to unveil the new line’s two designs. The S71, a traditional “Weldstar” design, and the S74, a sophisticated Y-spoke design, make up the initial RT-S style offering. The available sizes range from 15”x4” to 18”x18”, to fit the wide array of tires available today and vehicles from classic to 2010 Muscle. The 15 inch diameter versions are available in February, followed by 17 inch, then 18 inch diameters during the first quarter of 2010. Forged from primary aluminum alloys in the U.S.A., as are all Weld Racing wheels, they are lighter, stronger, and truer than other brands. The quality alloys in the wheels polish to a brilliant shine and resist oxidation better than other alloys. The option of black anodized centers with milled highlights adds to the choices and appeal.

Forged wheels have numerous advantages over cast wheels and non-forged billet wheels. A cast wheel is made from A-356 Aluminum that is melted and poured into a mold. This material is only 60% as strong as 5000 or 6000 series alloys that are forged into shape. In addition the cast A-356 is brittle and porous. Not exactly properties you want in a wheel, especially in a high performance application! A billet of aluminum alloy that is not forged to approximate shape before machining does not have grain running from center to rim like spokes on a wheel. A forged billet, done correctly, does. This prevents de-lamination failures that can occur during high loads in a pure billet wheel. The forging process also increases the surface density of the wheel improving durability further. With a stronger material you can use less to build the wheel reducing its weight as much as 40% and still have a more durable wheel.

71LB_18x12_RT-S_300_whiteThe RT-S wheels are three-piece forgings for application flexibility that are assembled by welding. In addition to the large array of widths and offsets, there are three mounting pad heights available to fit your brake package while maximizing the depth of the outer wheel lip. Primary forging grade aluminum alloys are used to create these and all Weld Racing wheels and this means no recycled scrap is used, as in most cast wheels and others. The difference in quality is obvious from the appearance, the strength, and the durability.

Weld RT-S wheels are available in widths to 18” to accommodate monster tires. Each design is modeled in 3D, and then tested with F.E.A. and destructive testing in our facility to insure your safety. Capable of handling 1200 horse power, 1.2 second 60 ft. times, 1,580 pound loads, and very high speeds, these wheels are the answer to today’s powerful and sophisticated Hot Rods and Street Machines.

For over 40 years Weld Racing built technologically superior wheels in the U.S.A. Today Weld Racing L.L.C. continues the tradition of building Racing and High Performance wheels in the heart of the U.S., using 21st century technology while giving the customer top quality, true craftsmanship, and excellent customer service.
