A NEW FORD PAINT SCHEME COMING?

Is there a Ford Mustang body without Motorcraft and Quick Lane in prominent positions in existence? We are hearing just such a body could show up at in not one, but two locations, in the coming weeks. Keep your eyes out in both Englishtown and Michigan NASCAR as a new Ford offering debuts.

NHRA LOOKING TO FINISH THEIR TESTS SOON?

Word has it the NHRA would like to wind up their data gathering sessions as soon as possible but sources are saying the ASAP could be in June. The next data gathering session will include a larger gallons per minute fuel pump as well as a restrictor plate. One prominent team has suggested running the cars without wings, an idea the NHRA quickly shot down.

MORE AL-ANABI NITRO DRIVERS IN THE FUTURE?

Current ADRL Pro Nitrous champion Khalid Balooshi's name was on the NHRA Midwest Nationals Top Fuel entry list and since it has been removed, we can only draw the conclusion this was a mistake.

However, bear in mind Balooshi has earned an NHRA A/Fuel Dragster license. From what we hear, in the coming months both Balooshi and Sheikh Khalid Al Thani plan to each pursue Top Fuel licenses.

VANDERGRIFF RETURNS?

Word has it that Bob Vandergriff Jr will be racing Top Fuel in Commerce next month.

PAIR OF RETIRED NITRO TUNERS RETURNING?

Word has it a pair of past nitro championship tuners will be at the ADRL event in Valdosta, Ga., filling in for another championship tuner who will be racing elsewhere. The tuning duo retired a couple of years ago but are said to be coming out of retirement for the part-time gig with the Pro Extreme team.

THE FOUR WIDE PETITION?

The fan response to the NHRA's first four wide national event has been mixed. Even the drivers weren't clear on their feelings about the event.

However, the response from the Professional Racers Organization has been crystal clear. Multiple sources told Attitude's CompetitionPlus.com a petition was circulated at zMax Dragway amongst their members seeking the discontinuation of the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals after just one event.

ANOTHER FORCE REALITY SHOW? KINDA SORTA

Is Simba, Ashley Force Hood's cat about to get his own reality show? The word in the pits is Animal Planet will be filming CAT 101 in the pits at Las Vegas in three weeks. It also appears, according to our sources, Simba may need his own public relations teams based on requests coming to the Glendora offices of NHRA.

UPDATED: BIG TIME CREW CHIEF CHANGING UNIFORMS?

6 PM, EST - Multiple sources have confirmed with Attitude's CompetitionPlus.com that longtime tuner John Medlen is reportedly leaving John Force Racing. The latest rumors circulating have Medlen joining Don Schumacher Racing.

DSR had no comment. Earlier in the day, Attitude's CompetitionPlus.com contacted JFR publicist Elon Werner, who told us he had no knowledge of Medlen's departure.

HUMPHREYS WILL BRING GLIDDEN BACK TO A FORD

Ford fans have long clamored for a Bob Glidden and a Ford reunion, and what we hear -- it's going to happen. You might notice in the Attitude's CompetitionPlus.com photo gallery the ten-time Pro Stock champion Glidden is on hand to assist Justin Humphreys over the course of the weekend. From what we hear, when Humphreys makes the conversion from his current combination to Ford, Glidden will be right there to help with the transition. The talented youthful Humphreys, the legendary Glidden, Roush-Yates Engines ... this could be a lethal combination down the road.

MATT SMITH HAS A NEW BACKER?

Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Angie Smith was named on the day before Christmas as the rider of Karl and Kim Klement's Buell, and would race the entire 2010 season with Coffman Tank Trucks.

Her husband, Matt Smith, former world champion and engine builder for the team, was expected to see limited action in ocmpetition since being released by Don Schumacher Racing. He was expected to compete at select events and concentrate primarily on tuning Angie's bike.
