The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) has finalized the purchase of GALOT Motorsports Park. The facility was acquired from the Wells family, who transformed it from the former Dunn-Benson Dragstrip since their purchase in 2013.

Located at the intersection of Interstate 95 and Interstate 40, the North Carolina track features a temperature-controlled racing surface recognized as the flattest in the world. This design allows racers to achieve maximum performance.

The venue includes seating for 9,000 spectators along with two climate-controlled tower suites. Additional amenities encompass LED scoreboards, an on-site restaurant, a climate-controlled starting line, asphalt parking, and RV electrical hook-ups.

GALOT hosts a variety of racing events, truck shows, tractor pulls, and concerts. The track will hold the PDRA East Coast Nationals presented by FuelTech from April 2-5, and the IHRA Night of Fire is scheduled for June 27-28.

Josh Peake, former IHRA Division Director, currently serves as the dragway’s general manager.

“We’re excited to announce we have acquired this first-class racing facility,” said IHRA CEO Christian Byrd. “It is both racer and spectator-friendly, which has proven to be a great host of special events. We look forward to adding more great events to the schedule.”
