Larry Sutton spent nearly six decades standing where few people dared to stand, on the drag racing starting line. From handing out time slips at Lions Drag Strip as a 13-year-old to becoming one of the sport’s most respected starters, Sutton witnessed—and helped shape—some of drag racing’s defining moments.
In what he says will be his final interview, Sutton joins Alan Reinhart to tell stories few have ever heard, including Don Garlits’ historic explosion, the dangers of early starting lines, racing nearly every category in the sport, and the journey that led him to multiple Hall of Fame honors. It’s an honest conversation from one of drag racing’s most recognizable figures whose life has been intertwined with the sport since 1956.
